What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Virtual BCBA?

To thrive as a Virtual BCBA, you must have a master's degree in behavior analysis or a related field, active BCBA certification, and expertise in developing and supervising Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs. Most organizations provide training and technical support to help BCBAs adjust to remote service delivery. Successful Virtual BCBAs maintain flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to overcoming the unique challenges of the virtual care environment.

Job description

Board Certified Behavior Analyst
Cortica is growing and seeking a passionate BCBA to join our team in a brand-new location in Tempe! This is an exciting opportunity to be the first BCBA and a part of a founding team.

We are a unified team of doctors and therapists, specializing in neurodevelopmental disorders.

We emphasize collaboration and long-term outcomes, grounded in an assent-based, individualized approach and supported by a team of physicians, speech, occupational, and mental health therapists. Learn about our Whole-Child Model!

We're committed to investing in our clinicians from day one, including a first-year retention bonus of up to $7,5000, a competitive salary, and meaningful growth opportunities.

Position Overview:
This work is meaningful and complex. Our roles are thoughtfully designed to support sustainable, ethical practice.

Based primarily out of our Warren clinic, with approximately 70-80% of your caseload delivered in-clinic and 20-30% in-home/via telehealth to surrounding communities (roughly a 30–45 minute commute).

Schedule: primarily daytime hours, with 1–2 evenings per week extending to 6:30–7:00 PM; other days typically wrap up around 5:00 PM. Our goal is to keep a balanced caseload for all our new BCBAs, so we balance daytime and evening clients accordingly — this is what you can expect from your schedule.

Clinical & Administrative Support:
  • Hybrid flexibility for supervision (when appropriate) & administrative tasks.
  • Clinical Supervisors for case consultation and guidance.
  • Transdisciplinary partners for collaboration across specialties.
  • Manageable, individualized  caseloads.
  • Care Coordinators for scheduling and day-to-day logistics.
  • BT Managers for performance and operational support.
  • BT Trainers who lead 3-week orientation and support BCAT testing.

Learning & Advancement:
  • Internal CEUs and virtual trainings.
  • Clinical Rounds and company-wide All Brains, ABA, Developmental Therapies, and Medical meetings.
  • Clinical ladder with progression from BCBA I–IV.
  • Growth into leadership, training, consultative, and operational roles.

Benefits:
  • Continuing Education Stipend: $2,000 annually.
  • PTO: Up to 22 days in your first year, increasing to 26 days after 12 months.
  • 401(k) Match.
  • Health Coverage: Medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance.
  • Pet Insurance.
  • Paid Parental Leave.

Compensation:
  • Base Salary: $95,000 and $105,000.
  • Dual Bonus Program: $61 to $76 for each additional billable hour + up to 10% of monthly salary based on ABA direct service hours, averaging between $5,000 - $10,000+ annually (uncapped).
  • First-Year Retention Bonus: Up to $7500.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in human services or a related field required.
  • BCBA (Board-Certified Behavior Analyst) certification required.
  • LBA (Licensed Behavior Analyst) certification required.
