What is a Virtual Aviation job?

A Virtual Aviation job involves working in the aviation industry remotely, often in roles such as virtual pilots, air traffic controllers, flight instructors, or aviation support specialists. These positions typically exist within flight simulation networks, online aviation communities, or remote work opportunities for airlines and training organizations. Tasks may include operating flight simulators, providing virtual training, or assisting with aviation-related customer service and operations. Virtual Aviation jobs can be a hobby or a professional career, depending on the level of expertise and certification required.

What are some typical challenges faced in Virtual Aviation roles, and how do you overcome them?

In Virtual Aviation positions, professionals often encounter challenges related to maintaining effective communication and situational awareness in a fully remote or simulated environment, where visual and auditory cues can differ from real-world conditions. Adapting quickly to new technologies or simulator platforms is also essential as systems can frequently update or evolve. Successful candidates stay proactive by regularly engaging in training, participating in collaborative virtual briefings, and practicing clear, concise communication with team members. Building strong remote teamwork and continually updating technical skills help ensure smooth and effective virtual operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Virtual Aviation position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Virtual Aviation roles, candidates need a solid understanding of aviation operations, flight simulation, and remote communication systems, often grounded in aviation or aeronautical engineering education. Familiarity with flight simulator software, virtual air traffic control systems, and industry-standard communication tools is often required, along with certifications such as FAA dispatch licenses or equivalent as relevant. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective virtual collaboration set standout professionals apart. These competencies ensure safe, efficient, and coordinated flight operations in a remote or simulated aviation environment.

Do You Love Helping People Change Their Lives?
Some people apply to jobs. Others answer a calling. If you're the kind of person who genuinely lights up when you help someone see a future they didn't know was possible - this role was built for you.
At Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM), our Student Enrollment Specialists don't just fill seats. They change trajectories. Every day, you'll talk to people who are ready for something more - a real career, a skilled trade, a future with their hands on aircraft that carry people home safely. Your job is to meet them where they are, believe in them before they fully believe in themselves, and guide them all the way through the door.
If that kind of work energizes you, keep reading.
What You'll Do
This is a high-energy, high-impact role. You'll own the full student journey - from the very first phone call to enrollment day - and you'll do it with urgency, warmth, and a relentless drive to hit your goals.
  • Connect with prospective students through phone, email, and in-person or virtual meetings - and bring genuine enthusiasm to every interaction
  • Assess each student's goals and eligibility, then champion the program that fits them best
  • Drive the full admissions cycle: inquiry, appointment setting, interviews, application completion, documentation, and enrollment
  • Hit and exceed enrollment KPIs - outreach volume, contact-to-appointment conversion, application completion, and closing ratios - because you hold yourself to a high standard
  • Follow up with persistence and care - life gets in the way for students; you don't let a good fit slip through the cracks
  • Represent AIM at open houses, career fairs, and community events with the energy and pride of someone who truly believes in what we offer
Who You Are
We're not just looking for someone who can do this job. We're looking for someone who will own it. The right person for this role:
  • Gets genuinely excited about helping people - this isn't just a talking point for you, it's the reason you show up
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment and brings positive energy to the team even on tough days
  • Has a proven track record in sales or customer service - you know what it means to work toward a number and you take pride in hitting it
  • Communicates with warmth, clarity, and confidence across diverse audiences
  • Takes initiative - you don't wait to be told what to do; you see what needs to happen and you make it happen
  • Stays organized and follows through - prospective students are counting on you, and you don't let them down
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate's degree or higher preferred

Experience
  • Proven background in sales or customer service with measurable results against KPIs (conversion rates, outreach goals, closing ratios)
  • 1+ year of admissions experience in a proprietary (for-profit) post-secondary educational setting preferred - but the right attitude and drive can go a long way

Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to connect authentically with diverse student populations
  • Excellent time management and multitasking in a high-volume, metric-driven environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; quick to learn new CRM and enrollment management systems
  • Flexible and available for occasional evenings and one Saturday per month

What We Offer
  • 401(k) and Matching: Secure your future with our competitive retirement savings plan.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Enjoy Health, Dental, and Vision insurance to keep you and your family healthy.
  • Life Insurance: Peace of mind with life insurance options.
  • Parental Leave: Support for new parents during important life transitions.
  • Paid Time Off: Recharge with paid time off to promote work-life balance.
  • Employee Assistance Program: Access to resources for personal and professional support.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Invest in your future with financial support for further education.

We are committed to providing a rewarding compensation package that supports both your professional growth and personal well-being.
