Overview

Summary: Amtrust Financial Services, a fast-growing commercial insurance company, is seeking a Trucking/Auto Staff Appraiser to respond to the needs of our customers. As part of the APD line of business, the Trucking/Auto Staff Appraiser is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and estimating damages to ensure accuracy on commercial/business insurance claims.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Under minimal supervision, is responsible for the handling of commercial auto physical damage (APD) claims that are of mid to high levels of complexity and/or severity.

Review photos, facts of loss, document, and estimate damage to tractor/trailers/autos that have suffered a loss. Common loss scenarios will include but not limited to interior water damage, partial or total fire, vehicle impact, hurricane, tornado, and hail damage.

Use CCC/Adjustrite/Mitchell estimating software to determine appropriate settlement amounts and to validate third party estimates / invoices.

Negotiate with shops on supplements and timely write supplements for related loss damages

Review and assist adjuster with diminished value claims.

Review and confirm subrogation demands from 3rd party carriers.

Interpret various policy forms and establish applicable coverages, conditions and limitations that may apply to the facts of the loss.

Establishes accurate and timely indemnity and expense reserves. Controls and manages claim related expenses.

Communicates with agents, insureds, claimants, and company personnel, keeping them apprised of appropriate information. Discusses possible coverage issues with supervisor and drafts coverage positions as applicable.

Ability to recognize when to refer claims to Special Investigations, Subrogation and/or Complex Claim Units.

Adhere to all statutory and regulatory fair claims practices.

Performs other functional duties as requested or required.

Qualifications

Requirements:

5+ years of experience handling commercial trucking/auto property claims with elements of complexity/severity

Proficient knowledge of auto and large truck estimating software and ability to independently prepare damage estimates in excess of $100,000

Ability to obtain adjuster licenses as needed

Ability to work remotely and independently

CAT Duty-This position may require participation in our Catastrophe Response Program, which could include deployments away from assigned territory to assist our customers in other states for extended periods

Valid driver's license

Reliable automobile and work space

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Preferred:

Advanced knowledge of CCC/Adjustrite/Mitchell estimating system

Prior experience adjusting property claims using virtual technologies

Currently hold P&C adjusters license(s)

Easily adapts to new or changing situations, requirements, or priorities
