Job description

Support enrollment, retention, completion and student success in the Human Services program. These services include student support, recruitment, internship orientation, student success activities, and compliance with campus, HUMS program policies and accreditation standards.
Salary Range: $20.00 per hourPrimary Responsibilities:

Student Support & Retention

  • Develop and support student success workshops, engagement initiatives, and retention programming for Human Services students.

  • Maintain current knowledge of Human Services program requirements, curriculum updates, institutional policies, and the Human Services program handbook.

  • Support at-risk student interventions and retention efforts through proactive communication and student-centered support.

  • Provide students with information and referrals related to academic support services, financial assistance resources, and campus resources as appropriate.

  • Monitor student progress through communication, outreach, interventions, and documentation while maintaining compliance with FERPA and institutional policies.

  • Coordinate communication and outreach related to student success initiatives, workshops, and support services.

  • Collaborate with Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, faculty, and community partners to support student success initiatives and accurate dissemination of program information.

  • Participate in professional development, advising-related and student success initiatives training to support program and institutional goals.

  • Maintain the Human Services student organization page in IvyLearn, including announcements, orientation materials, quizzes, and student resources in collaboration with the Program Chair.

  • Monitor and assess student success initiatives and provide recommendations to support student engagement, persistence, and program improvement.

Recruitment

  • Participate in campus-wide committees and initiatives as appropriate.

  • Work with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to effectively market the HUMS programs and events.

  • Represent human services program at campus, college and community recruiting events.

  • Create, maintain, and distribute recruiting resources.

Community Outreach & External relationships

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners for recruitment efforts and internship placements for the Human Services program.

  • Participate in Human Services Advisory Committee meetings twice per year.

Internship Coordination and Community Partnerships

  • Assist the Program Chair with internship preparation processes, including application guidance and supporting documentation requirements.

  • Assist with internship coordination for HUMS 200, 201, and 202.

  • Track required student documentation and onboarding requirements.

  • Coordinate orientation communication and internship readiness support.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive list of active internship sites.

  • Organize and monitor affiliation agreements with community partners.

General Responsibilities:
  • Maintains effective office procedures and efficient workflows, implement policies and procedures set by Ivy Tech; establish and maintain professional relationships with all employees, students, and college contacts.

  • Maintain appropriate inventory of necessary digital forms, ensuring professional appearance of outgoing documents.

  • Assists with records on office supplies and lab equipment.

  • Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot office equipment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, public health, social sciences, or a related field with three (3) years of experience in student or client support role and three (3) years administrative experience

OR

Associate degree in human services or psychology with five years of experience in student or client support with competencies in the following areas:

  • Case management experience

  • Human Services, Social Work terminology

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply human services theoretical frameworks.

  • Experience with public presentations

  • Competent using technologies including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office, text-messaging systems, virtual applications (Zoom, Teams, etc.), GoogleDocs, Canva, etc.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, human relations, and self-directed work skills within a team environment and ability to keep information confidential.

  • Dependable, responsible, willingness to work and learn, and excellent human relations skills.

  • Ability to travel and be available to work some nights and weekends.
