Job description

ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in access solutions, is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team in New Haven, CT. This roleis responsible forcore day-to-day accounting activities,accurateandtimelymonth-end close support, and financial reporting processes that help ensure the integrity of our results.ย 

The Senior Accountant will work closely with business partners and finance leaders to support external audit requests, intergroup billing, intergroup loan activity, fixed asset accounting, lease reporting, and consolidation activities. The role will also work heavily in OneStream and requires a strongย accounting foundation, sound judgment, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines in a collaborative environment.ย

What you will be doingย 

  • Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including preparing journal entries, reviewing account activity, andmaintainingaccuratefinancial records.ย 
  • Support the month-end close process by preparing, posting,ย analyzing, and reviewing entries and reconciliations within established deadlines.ย 
  • Analyzeย and reconcile balance sheet accounts,identifyvariances, and follow through on resolution of reconciling items.ย 
  • Support external audit requirements by preparing documentation, responding to auditor requests, andย ensuring supportingย schedules are complete andaccurate.ย 
  • Prepare and manage intergroup billingactivity, including coordination with internal business partners and review of related accounting entries.ย 
  • Manage intergroup loan accounting and reporting, including tracking balances, preparing supporting schedules, and ensuringappropriate accountingtreatment.ย 
  • Manage fixed asset accounting activities, including additions, disposals, depreciation review, reconciliations, and related reporting.ย 
  • Prepare lease accounting and reporting schedules and support proper accounting treatment for lease activity.ย 
  • Work heavily within OneStream to support consolidation, reporting, account analysis, and close-related activities.ย 
  • Partner with finance, operations, and shared services teams to research issues, explain balances, and providetimelyresponses to ad hoc requests.ย 
  • Assess and recommend improvements to accounting processes, controls, and reporting routines.ย 
  • Contribute to special projects as needed, bringing a practical accounting perspective and a continuous-improvement mindset.ย 

What we are looking forย 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, ora relatedfield.ย 
  • CPA certification strongly preferred.ย 
  • Strong foundationin accounting principles, including accruals, reconciliations, balance sheet analysis, fixed assets, leases, and intercompany activity.ย 
  • Professional accounting experience supporting month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit requests.ย 
  • Experience with ERP and consolidation/reporting systems such as JDE, SAP, Oracle NetSuite, OneStream, Hyperion, Power BI, or Business Objects.ย 
  • Strong technical acumen using Microsoft Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, and analysis of large data sets.ย 
  • Ability to retrieve,validate, andย analyzeย information across multiple systems.ย 
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines.ย 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with business partners and cross-functional teams.ย 
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positivelyina team environment.ย 
  • Limited domestic travel may berequired, up to 5%.ย 

Preferred Skills:ย 

  • Experience with OneStream consolidation, reporting, and account analysis processes.ย 
  • Experience with JD Edwards, Oracle SmartView/Hyperion, Power BI, Business Objects, or similar finance systems.ย 
  • Exposure to a multi-divisional, manufacturing, or shared-services accounting environment.ย
