About Us: Ignite Learning Academy (ILA) is an accredited, fully online K-12 school dedicated to providing high-quality, personalized education for students nationwide. Our innovative learning environment is designed to meet the unique needs of each student, empowering them to achieve academic excellence while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning. In addition to our general education program, we offer an extremely robust self-contained special education program (FIRE) as well as a self-contained gifted program (SPARK) to ensure all student needs are met. At ILA, we believe that every child learns differently, and we are committed to delivering an engaging and supportive educational experience tailored to individual student needs so no child is ever bored in school or moved ahead too quickly without a strong foundational knowledge.


Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and certified online substitute self-contained special education teacher to join our team of dedicated educators. This position requires the teacher to work closely with students in a virtual setting to facilitate engaging lessons, provide individualized support, and monitor student progress. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about online education, skilled in using digital learning tools, and committed to fostering a collaborative and interactive virtual classroom.


This position will be used to cover for an upcoming 2-3 week medical leave as well as daily planned absences throughout the year.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging, and interactive online instruction in alignment with standards, curriculum, and student learning needs.
  • Be available to teach live during regular school hours.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students in 1-on-1, small-group, and whole-class settings.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families, fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback, grades, and academic support.
  • Utilize technology effectively, including Canvas, Zoom, and other digital resources.
  • Implement innovative teaching strategies to make learning engaging and accessible for all students.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Must physically live in the United States
  • Must have online K-12 teaching experience (not just during COVID)
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid teacher certification/endorsement in special education (or teacher certification with special education teaching experience) (issued by any U.S. state)
  • Ability to quickly learn and effectively use online learning platforms and digital tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with students and families.
  • Passion for online education and a commitment to student success.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications
