In a professional context, jobs related to virality focus on creating, optimizing, and analyzing content that has the potential to go viral, thus reaching a large audience in a short period. Roles in this field may include social media strategists, content creators, or digital marketers who use analytics and creative strategies to maximize engagement and shareability. Understanding audience behavior and trends is crucial for success in virality-focused positions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a viral marketing specialist, and why are they important?

Key responsibilities

  • Own the organic growth strategy for Rho's product launches to increase distribution and awareness.

  • Build and ship products, tools, or experiences that facilitate growth and virality without waiting for external teams.

  • Identify and implement ways for Rho's products to generate their own distribution through sharing, referrals, and loops.

Job description

About Us
Rho is the modern banking platform built for the AI era. Startups and growth-stage companies can open accounts in minutes, issue cards, manage expenses, pay bills, and close the books - all in one connected platform backed by real human support.
The role
Rho ships faster than any company in our category. Over the next year, we're entering multiple new product categories, launching our most ambitious AI products yet, and expanding into the broader SMB market.
Your job is to make what we ship spread.
You own the organic growth strategy around Rho's products: turning launches into moments that travel, finding distribution in places our competitors aren't looking, and building growth directly into the products and experiences we ship.
Sometimes the product is already built. You'll figure out the idea, mechanic, creator, community, stunt, tool, or story that gets thousands of people to care about it.
Sometimes the growth idea is the product. At Rho, you don't need to wait for a PM or engineering team to turn an idea into something real. We've equipped people across the company to build and ship. If you think Rho should launch a calculator, benchmark, generator, referral mechanic, interactive tool, or something we don't have a name for yet, you build it.
You report to the VP of Marketing and work across Growth, Creative, Product, Engineering, and Comms. The best people in this seat can't look at a product without thinking about how it could spread. They reverse-engineer things that take off on the internet. They see distribution as a product problem and product as a distribution channel.
The pace is the job. We want someone who sees an opportunity and asks, "why not today?"
What we're looking for
  • Make our products famous. Own the organic distribution strategy for Rho's biggest launches. Find the idea that makes each product travel beyond our existing audience, then make it happen. Creators, communities, social, PR, partnerships, stunts, events, tools, and channels that don't exist yet are all fair game. The channel follows the idea.
  • Build things that grow Rho. Don't limit yourself to marketing what already exists. Conceive, build, and ship products and experiences whose purpose is growth: tools, calculators, generators, benchmarks, data products, interactive experiences, shareable artifacts, and whatever else you think should exist. Go from idea to something live without waiting for someone else to hand you a roadmap.
  • Product virality. Find ways for Rho's products to generate their own distribution. Build and test sharing, referrals, invitations, collaboration, public artifacts, and other loops that turn customers into acquisition. When the best growth idea requires changing the product, change the product.
  • Rho Labs. Partner on the launch and distribution of Rho's most advanced AI products. These products may not have an established category, audience, or playbook. Figure out how to introduce them in ways that make people want to try them, show them to someone else, and come back.
  • Organic growth. Grow the share of Rho's acquisition that we don't have to buy. Find emerging channels, communities, platforms, creators, and behaviors before they become obvious acquisition channels. Test quickly, measure what works, and scale the things that do.
  • Creators and internet distribution. Build relationships and programs with the people who already have our customers' attention. Understand what makes content native to each audience instead of turning creators into another ad unit.
  • Launch experimentation. Treat every launch as an opportunity to learn. Test formats, mechanics, messages, audiences, and distribution strategies. Build the system where every launch makes the next launch better.
  • Attention โ†’ customers. A million views isn't success if nothing happens afterward. Own the path from organic attention to signup, activation, referral, and revenue. Build attribution and measurement into what you ship and know the difference between something that got attention and something that created growth.
Requirements
  • You've made something spread. A product, launch, tool, campaign, feature, community, piece of content, or experience you've worked on escaped its initial audience and generated meaningful organic distribution. We'll ask you exactly why it worked and what you personally did.
  • You have exceptional instincts for how things move through the internet. Creators, communities, social platforms, group chats, memes, earned media, and whatever comes next.
  • You're a builder. You can use modern AI, coding, and design tools to take an idea from your head to something people can actually use. We'll ask you to show us things you've made yourself.
  • You think in systems and loops, not campaigns. You're constantly asking how one user, customer, viewer, or participant can create the next one.
  • You can make any product interesting. Give you a feature that sounds boring on paper and your instinct is to find the surprising, useful, funny, provocative, or culturally relevant idea inside it.
  • You're creatively ambitious and quantitatively rigorous. You care about the idea and the number. You can talk about why something was culturally interesting and then tell us what it did to activation, conversion, CAC, or revenue.
  • You understand product well enough to see growth opportunities inside it. You don't need a finished brief to start thinking, and you don't assume distribution begins after something ships.
  • You're comfortable with experiments that fail. You'd rather ship ten sharp ideas, learn quickly, and find one breakout than spend a quarter perfecting a launch plan.
  • You're a systems thinker. You don't just want one viral launch. You build the playbook, tooling, measurement, and feedback loops that make breakout organic growth more repeatable.
  • You ship fast, have strong taste, and take full ownership.

Your title today might be Growth, Product, Creative, Brand, Social, or something else entirely.
We care much more about what you've made happen than what your title was when you did it.
Our people are our most valuable asset. Our target compensation range for this role is $165,000 - $250,000. Compensation will be determined by leveling and performance throughout the interview process. In addition to base pay, Rho offers equity, comprehensive healthcare benefits, and paid time off.
