POSITION SUMMARY:
Under minimal guidance, assign and assist in the completion of job tasks with technicians in their charge in accordance with approved or accepted data and with serviceable materials. Assure that all work is documented on the forms set forth in the repair station quality manual and all assigned work tasks are completed relative to the completion schedule and department budget. Plan all installations, fabrications, and assemblies on VIP aircraft in accordance with approved technical manuals, engineering drawings, RSQM, and IOP's.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Communicate schedule goals, conformance, quality, and safety daily at shift start-up meetings.
2. Lead and coach employees in the improvement of productivity, the reduction of costs, and budgeted labor hours.
3. Assign work for optimal utilization of resources and ensure back up plans for under-utilized resources as applies.
4. Responsible for first time quality of work completed.
5. Ensure completion of all paperwork such as daily turnover reports, task cards, and travelers as applicable.
6. Ensure employees are adhering to the guidelines set forth in the RSQM and IOP Manual's.
7. Assist in evaluations for employees with their respective manager both on a daily basis and for quarterly reviews.
8. Monitor safety conditions in the facility as well as enforce correct safety practices and procedures for all employees and visitors.
9. Provide guidance and mentor all technicians as it relates to work assignments, specific work steps, proper and safe use of all tools and/or machinery or overall job performance.
10. Communicate with the appropriate project supervisor about any potential delays, work stoppages or other instances which may impact the department schedule, production targets and/or overall status of aircraft completion to include any potential for delay.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:
1. High school diploma or GED, plus a technical training/diploma/certificate in aircraft mechanics, or aeronautics from at least a 2-year technology institution plus 3 years of applicable experience in the same or similar job in the military or within the aviation industry; or 6 years of applicable experience in same or similar job within the aviation industry.
2. Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
3. Thorough knowledge of high-end VIP aircraft.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Proficient knowledge and expertise with VIP completion production skill sets.
2. Strong knowledge of FAA requirements for VIP aircraft.
3. Strong ability to provide verbal and written communication.
4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
5. Working knowledge of computers and related software.
6. Knowledge of lean or other continuous improvement opportunity techniques.
7. Demonstrated ability to Lead and motivate a team.
8. Ability to effectively set and achieve realistic production targets with the technicians working in a high demand service-oriented environment.
9. Ability to communicate in an assertive yet professional, motivating, and tactful manner.
10. Strong understanding of man hour allocation.
11. Willing to travel domestically and internationally when required.

The hangar where this position works is in an environment which may have exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues such as fluctuations in temperature. The employee in this position will experience occasional outdoor exposure to heat, cold, and environmental elements.
