Job description

This limited term position offers an internship opportunity in order to provide college students from a wide variety of educational disciplines the opportunity to apply traditional academic classroom learning to actual work experience.
THIS IS AN UNPAID VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY.
The Content Creator Intern will assist the shelter's communications team in creating engaging social media content, photographing adoptable pets, writing captions, developing short-form videos, and promoting shelter events, programs, and lifesaving initiatives. The intern will also help maintain a consistent online presence that encourages pet adoptions, fostering, volunteering, and community engagement.
Working alongside the Public Information Office and Animal Shelter staff, the intern will gain real-world experience in content planning, digital storytelling, branding, and nonprofit/government communications. Projects may include creating social media graphics, assisting with campaigns, covering community events, highlighting adoptable animals, and brainstorming creative ways to connect with residents online.
This is an unpaid internship designed to provide practical experience for students or individuals interested in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, digital media, photography, or animal welfare. Flexible scheduling is available to accommodate class schedules. Position requires 20-25 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications:
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires high school diploma, GED, and (1) year of secondary education in a related field. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, animal-filled environment. They should have strong written communication skills, an eye for photography or videography, creativity, attention to detail, and familiarity with major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
Requires a valid Florida Driver's License.
