Job description
Commercial AV Install Technician - Level 3
Lead Technician / Project Foreman
Full-TimeReports to: Project Manager
About Logic Integration
Logic Integration is a nationally recognized audiovisual integration firm headquartered in Lone Tree, Colorado. We design, engineer, install, and support advanced AV, lighting, shading, and automation systems for commercial and residential clients across the United States. Our team delivers approximately 200 projects annually, ranging from $25K to $2M+, and we hold ourselves to the highest standards of quality, craftsmanship, and professionalism.
Role Summary
The Commercial AV Project Foreman combines the advanced technical capability of a Level 3 Technician with the field leadership responsibilities of a Lead Technician. This role is responsible for leading on-site installation teams, ensuring quality execution of complex AV systems, and serving as the primary field liaison between the installation crew, Project Manager, clients, general contractors, and IT teams.
The Project Foreman must be capable of independently commissioning complete AV systems, configuring control and DSP platforms, troubleshooting at a system level, and managing the daily workflow of field teams. This is not just a senior installer - it is a field leadership role that directly impacts project outcomes, client satisfaction, and team development.
This role requires 3-5+ years of commercial AV installation experience with demonstrated leadership ability.
Core Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Project Execution
• Lead on-site installation teams across commercial AV projects from rough-in through commissioning
• Serve as the primary field point of contact with Project Manager, clients, GCs, architects, and IT teams
• Interpret and execute from complete project documentation: AV drawings, rack elevations, signal flow diagrams, one-line diagrams, and network schematics
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to Logic Integration quality standards
• Identify and communicate job-site risks, issues, scope changes, and change order needs proactively to the Project Manager
• Manage daily task sequencing, crew assignments, and material staging on-site
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites; enforce company installation standards and OSHA compliance
• Read and redline drawings; document as-built conditions and field changes
Advanced System Installation & Configuration
• Install, terminate, and test all low-voltage cabling types (Cat6/6A, fiber, coax, speaker, control, shielded audio) per AVIXA and TIA standards
• Build, wire, dress, and label equipment racks to Logic Integration and AVIXA standards including power sequencing, UPS integration, and thermal management
• Install and configure complete commercial AV systems including:
- Displays, video walls, LED walls, and projection systems (screens, lifts, rear-projection assemblies, mounts)
- Audio systems: DSPs, amplifiers, speakers, microphone systems, automated/manual mixers, EQs, compressor/limiters, speaker processors, and outboard gear
- Control systems (Crestron, Extron, etc.) including IR, RF, IP, CEC, and RS-232 communication protocols
- Video conferencing and collaboration systems (Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Poly)
- Digital signage, media players, and content distribution systems
- Lighting control, motorized shade control, and surveillance integration
- Accessory equipment: pop-ups/cable cubbies, floor boxes, in-ceiling camera systems, and conference table integration
Control Systems & DSP Programming
• Upload, download, and perform field edits to control system programs
• Write and modify audio programs for common DSP platforms (Biamp Tesira/Audia, QSC Q-SYS, Extron)
• Configure and tune audio systems: gain structure, EQ, routing, zone management, and speaker optimization
• Proficiency with AV control and configuration tools: Crestron Toolbox, Biamp Tesira software, Extron Global Configurator, QSC Q-SYS Designer
Networking & AV-over-IP
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: OSI model (Layers 1-3), IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, and basic switching
• Configure AV devices on managed networks and coordinate with client IT teams on port provisioning, VLAN assignments, and firewall rules
• Experience with networked AV protocols: Dante, AES67, AVB, NDI, SDVoE
• Configure network switches and basic port forwarding for AV system requirements
• Understanding of wireless RF environments for microphone systems, LAN, and control devices
System Commissioning & Troubleshooting
• Fully commission any level of commercial AV system from conference rooms to large-scale presentation and pro-audio environments
• Perform signal verification, audio tuning, video calibration, and system optimization
• Diagnose and resolve complex system issues independently using logical, step-by-step diagnostic methodology across cabling, hardware, configuration, programming, and network layers
• Perform final system testing, punch-list completion, and client walk-through/training
• Ensure all systems meet performance, usability, and client expectations before sign-off
Team Development & Accountability
• Train and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 Technicians on installation techniques, standards, troubleshooting, and professional conduct
• Delegate tasks effectively across team members based on skill level and project needs
• Ensure accurate time tracking and daily reporting for entire on-site crew
• Hold team members accountable for quality, safety, and professionalism on-site
• Provide feedback to Project Manager on technician performance, skill gaps, and development opportunities
Industry Standards Alignment (AVIXA / InfoComm)

• Clean, organized racks and installations that reflect Logic Integration quality standards
• Strong, proactive communication with Project Managers and clients
• High-performing, well-trained field teams that take pride in their work

• Technicians under your leadership are growing in skill, accountability, and professionalism
