Job description

Creative eLearning Developer

MA - Boston - Office , US - Headquarters - Maryland - Columbia

What makes Tenable such a great place to work?

Ask a member of our team and they’ll answer, “Our people!” We work together to build and innovate best-in-class cybersecurity solutions for our customers; all while creating a culture of belonging, respect, and excellence where we can be our best selves. When you’re part of our #OneTenable team, you can expect to partner with some of the most talented and passionate people in the industry, and have the support and resources you need to do work that truly matters. We deliver results that exceed expectations and we win together!

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship. We are unable to provide sponsorship for work visas of any kind at the time of hire, or at any point during employment. This includes, but is not limited to: F1-OPT, F1-CPT, H-1B, TN, J-1, etc

Your Role:

The Creative eLearning Developer designs and builds interactive training services, offering collateral and enablement content for the Services Portfolio by combining three capabilities in one role: multimedia/video design, graphic design, and technical writing. This role turns technical subject matter into polished, field-ready courses, videos, and collateral for websites, presentations, classrooms, and e-learning platforms - owning a deliverable from storyboard through final published, LMS-ready package.

This is a “creative” eLearning Developer specifically: unlike a standard eLearning Developer who authors courses from assets supplied by others, this role also creates the graphic and multimedia assets themselves - 2-D/3-D graphics, video animation, and course visuals, in addition to authoring interactive modules in tools like Articulate Storyline or Rise 360 and writing the scripts, captions, and course copy that tie a deliverable together. The role also manages one or more supporting processes for the team (e.g., video mastering, templates, or SCORM packaging standards), working largely self-directed with minimal supervision and reporting status to leadership at regular intervals.

Your Opportunity: Multimedia & Video Design:
  • Video & Audio Editing: Edit video and audio into the final training, services and marketing deliverables.
  • Storyboard Translation: Translate storyboards into technical infographics and animated sequences.
  • 3-D & Motion Assets: Create line art, 2-D graphics, 3-D imaging, and video animation for course and presentation content.
Graphic Design & Brand Hub:
  • Template & Style Systems: Create, maintain, and utilize templates for presentations, documents, and animations using a variety of development tools.
  • Brand & Style Guides: Contribute to creating style guides for deliverables, ensuring visual and written consistency across the portfolio.
  • Visual Layout: Design presentation layouts and visual assets that translate technical information into a clear visual story.
  • Brand Evolution Support: Support the Senior Manager, Services Portfolio Production, in executing the corporate “house style” overhaul across all One Tenable, Prime assets, including the Tier 1/2 rebrand timeline.
  • Creative Request Hub: Act as a direct creative design point of contact for the Senior Director and leadership — turning around presentations, graphics, and one-off collateral on request — with strict adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Brand Guideline Stewardship: Maintain and enforce brand standards (logo usage, typography, color, iconography) across all portfolio deliverables, and flag or correct off-brand assets in circulation.
Technical Writing & Content Development:
  • Script & Course Copy: Write and edit scripts, voiceover text, captions, and on-screen callouts, maintaining a consistent voice across written and visual content.
  • Documentation: Maintain technical and course documentation to support the assets you build.
  • Content Evaluation: Evaluate existing visual and written content and recommend improvements for clarity and engagement.
eLearning Authoring & Publishing:
  • Course Authoring: Build interactive learning modules — branching scenarios, quizzes, and simulations — using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, or Adobe Captivate.
  • Packaging & LMS Publishing: Package courses to SCORM/xAPI standards, publish to the LMS, and test for compatibility and learner tracking.
  • Accessibility: Apply accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508) to eLearning content.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Delivery:
  • Requirements Gathering: Meet with stakeholders to gather requirements and develop design plans.
  • Iterative Feedback: Perform edits based on feedback from Solution Architects, peers, and leadership.
  • Deadline Management: Create deliverables within time constraints to meet project deadlines.
  • Independent Execution: Perform tasks with minimal supervision, managing one or more supporting processes (e.g., video mastering, templates, SCORM packaging standards) end-to-end.
Team Leadership & Mentorship:
  • Mentorship: Mentor and develop less experienced designers, sharing craft and process knowledge across the production team.
What You'll Need:
  • Minimum 5 years of eLearning development, multimedia, or graphic/video design experience in a professional setting.
  • Comfortable writing and maintaining technical/course documentation, scripts, and captions for course and video deliverables.
  • Familiarity with the full product delivery life cycle: requirements analysis, design, testing, implementation.
  • B.A./B.S. in graphic design, instructional design, educational technology, or a related field, or comparable experience.
  • Proficiency with Articulate Storyline and/or Rise 360 (or Adobe Captivate), plus Adobe Creative Cloud and Camtasia.
  • Strong presentation design skills (PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Keynote) for fast-turnaround, executive-ready decks in addition to core Adobe Creative Cloud work.
  • Experience building or maintaining a brand guideline system (logo, typography, color, iconography) at an organizational level.
  • Working knowledge of SCORM/xAPI packaging and LMS publishing; awareness of accessibility standards such as Section 508.
  • Working knowledge of Instructional Design frameworks (e.g., ADDIE).
  • Experience or knowledge of Tenable products; familiarity with network architecture and Tenable cybersecurity practices for enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency with Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong initiative and the ability to work remotely, both self-directed and as part of a geographically distributed team.
  • This role may require the ability to work in a hybrid/on-site capacity at our headquarters in Columbia MD or Boston MA. This position is US-based only.
  • Ability to work remotely in a self-directed manner
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations and meetings
  • Some Tenable office travel may be required

This is the base pay range for this position. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, location and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown. Employees are also eligible for variable compensation in addition to base pay (commission for sales roles, bonus for non-sales roles), depending on company and individual performance. Tenable also offers a variety of comprehensive and competitive benefits which include: medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance; 401(k) retirement savings with company match; an employee stock purchase plan; an employee referral program; flexible spending accounts; an Employee Assistance Program (EAP); education assistance; parental leave; paid time off (PTO); company-paid holidays; health and wellness events; and community programs.
