Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Video Installation Technician to join our team in McLean, VA. In this role, serve on a team of IT support professionals responsible for installing video equipment while providing a productive and collaborative computer workspace (new or renovated) to support dynamic mission requirements. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting all facets of video installations, which includes the physical placement of CAT5 and various other types of cables (fiber optic, HDMI, coaxial, network, power), wall jacks, racks, and video equipment as required.
  • Installing, pulling and terminating cable, determining and implementing required pin outs, cards power supplies, testing and documenting installations, dressing and labeling cables, racks, patch panels, etc.
  • Assembling and connecting different components of a video system, which might include video processors, scalers, receivers, amplifiers, media players, and control systems.
  • Supporting projects that include cabling and implementation in accordance with design documents and build-to packages.
  • Local travel will be required between customer buildings or temporary assignment to an alternate location in support of special projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and 8 years of relevant technician experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of experience, OR a master’s degree and 2 years of experience.
  • Expertise in various cable types, termination standards, proper cable management, troubleshooting techniques, and reading/understanding cable run lists.
  • Strong diagnostic skills to identify and resolve issues with video, audio, control, and network connectivity.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting video conferencing hardware (e.g., Cisco, Poly, Logitech).
  • Experience resolving technical problems and answering queries by using video systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Related work experience in video and cabling installation.
  • Experience with implementation on the Sponsor's network infrastructure.
  • AVIXA, CompTIA Network+ or CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Certifications
  • Ability to adapt to quickly changing tasks and requirements and the ability to quickly learn new skills while on the job.

Hours:

Work required shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM as part of a coverage team operating between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.  May need to work extended hours during critical peaks and be available to meet last-minute requests.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 25% of the time. Constantly operate a computer, phone, and other office equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move/traverse within and between buildings and offices majority of the time, position self to maintain equipment and cabling, including under the desks, while moving floor tiles, and in server closets, some of which may be confined spaces.
  • Must be able to move Audio/Visual or Computer equipment weighing 50+ pounds, some equipment may require team-lift or the use of carts. Ascends/descends a ladder, 10+ feet high while pulling cables and adjusting equipment.
