Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what's next.

This is your chance to be at the forefront of Netflix's new offering of Video Games. We will bring these new experiences to market through the world's leading streaming entertainment app with hundreds of million of paid memberships in over 190 countries who are already enjoying TV series, documentaries and feature films across a wide variety of genres and languages.

Members can watch as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and now they can play games on the cloud, or download and play mobile games anytime, anywhere with a collection of Netflix curated and produced Games. At Netflix, we have an insatiable need to continually improve our product experience and the creative elements that support it and this team sits at the forefront of the effort.

As one of the most senior producers for the Mainstream portfolio, you will be at the forefront of our game development process, driving excellence in game quality, timelines, and risk management. You will step in to take over major challenging and complex initiatives, titles and franchises, ensuring game excellence, production rigor and strategic alignment with our portfolio objectives. Your role will involve mentoring and managing a team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. You'll work directly with reports as well as working with cross functional teams where influence without authority is important

Key Responsibilities:

  • Game Production Leadership: Lead major initiatives, and/or titles, reporting to the Director of Production . You'll leverage your deep and varied experience to do due diligence, balance time, budget and team health with a focus on player value. You'll consider game readiness, quality, predictability, keeping your stakeholders informed and aligned along on the process.

  • Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the primary point of contact for the game development teams, collaborating on project and milestone schedules, submission planning, risks, dependency and and overall development plans. Radiate this information with cross-functional teams, advocating for your game and maintaining good relationships across the rest of the games org.

  • Roadmap and Schedule Creation: Develop and drive full lifecycle project roadmaps, schedules, and quality standards, ensuring alignment with broader portfolio and quality goals.

  • Milestone Assessment: Expertly assess milestones, reviewing and evaluating game builds across design, creative, development, and production progress. Synthesize feedback from stakeholders into actionable systems for developers.

  • Problem Solving and Risk Management: Be an excellent observer and proactive problem solver, maintaining an outstanding risk register and identifying risks early to remove roadblocks and potential bottlenecks. Drive ambiguity out of discussions and ensure active closure of outstanding issues.

  • Team Empowerment: Inspire and empower development teams, guiding them through continuous improvement and sharing learnings with the studio. Ensure a healthy team culture that is communicative, transparent, motivated, committed, and focused on realistic goals.

  • Strategic Focus: Demonstrate a strong understanding of portfolio objectives and the ability to align project and team efforts with strategic goals.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in Video Game Production, preferably in both Publishing and Development. Track record of successfully shipping multiple AA (or bigger) games across their full lifecycle, from R&D to live operations - especially in early-stage, scrappy environments.

  • Strong understanding of game development processes, including design, programming, art, and audio

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively - most notably in communicating effectively with stakeholders and partners at all levels.

  • Strong analytical skills to assess project progress and identify areas for improvement.

  • Creative problem-solving abilities to proactively mitigate obstacles in game development.

  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide teams towards achieving project goals - influencing without authority. Experience in building and maintaining a positive and productive team environment.

  • Consistently demonstrates great judgment in decision-making

  • Able to build and maintain excellent cross-functional partnerships and workstreams

  • Experience in managing project budgets, including forecasting, tracking, and reporting and a strong understanding of level of realistic project scope

  • Ability to make cost-effective decisions without compromising quality.

  • Understanding of quality assurance processes and the ability to ensure high standards of quality in game production.

  • Understanding of release management processes especially in relation to 1st party platforms.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, player preferences, and competitive landscape.

  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work effectively with diverse international teams and audiences.

  • A genuine love of games and an informed perspective on what makes them great and what is important to players.
