Job description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide exemplary customer service to internal and external constituencies
- Oversight of video board productions and serving as internal point-of-contact for sports programs including volleyball, field hockey, women's basketball and softball
- Collaborate with internal units to enhance the game day atmosphere and fulfill sponsored elements at home games by creating or eliciting content for displays and setting runs of show for operators
- Assist with other video board productions as may be needed throughout the year
- Provide highlight coverage of the aforementioned and other teams for external distribution; ensuring adherence to NCAA, ACC, and University policies
- Engage in unit planning for crew retention and management and equipment renewal and replacement
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- The incumbent may independently set his or her day-to-day schedule, as dictated by the needs of the Athletics Department.
- The incumbent will have the authority to take initiative as issues arise.
- Decisions to produce content for video board productions and broadcast productions can be made without prior approval.
- All purchasing decisions must be approved by the Senior Director of Sport and Broadcast Production.
- The position requires a flexible schedule: evening and weekend hours, and limited travel as assigned.
- Initiates communication and collaborates with various internal and external constituencies to gather information and coordinate services.
- Routinely applies knowledge of program policies and procedures to effectively complete tasks.
- Consults with the appropriate supervisor when faced with a more challenging problem or a situation beyond the scope of their duties or expertise.
- Ability to utilize standard principles and best practices of video production. Ability to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in pre-production, live event production, video editing, camera work, and sports terminology.
- Ability to convey information, and/or plans clearly in written format.
- Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in interactions with all UVA and Athletics Department staff, outside community including fans, visitors, the ACC, prospective students, parents, and other constituencies.
- Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to supervise freelance staff and student workers.
- Ability to present a professional demeanor and maintain confidentiality while delivering a high level of internal and external customer service.
Minimum Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant experience. Some related experience with one or more of the following: remote or control room live event production, video editing and content creation, sports videography.
Preferred Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree with a major/minor in Communications, Journalism, Media or a related field.
Experience: Significant sports broadcast production experience preferred.
Intermediate knowledge of computers and software: Ross Xpression, Click Effects, Adobe Creative Suite.
About the Position
The salary range is $ 37,500 - 40,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position will not consider candidates who require immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
This position is located on the UVA Grounds in Charlottesville, VA. This is an exempt-level, benefited position; learn more about UVA Benefits . This is an in person position.
