Job Summary:
  • The Designer will support product development through the creation of novel device concepts, fixturing/tooling, and processing equipment for product development.
  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.
  • This is product development through the creation of novel device concepts, fixturing/tooling, and processing equipment for product development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for static and dynamic design and analysis of systems, equipment and tooling.
  • Keeps current on manufactures' technical notes, upgrades and application recommendations.
  • Studies equipment performance and reliability.
  • Identifies design errors, omissions and recommends solutions.
  • Applies mathematical formulas and standard tool engineering data to develop designs.
  • Draws preliminary sketches and prepares layout and final detail drawings.
  • Responsible for developing and applying CAD software engineering methods, in the investigation and solution of technical problems.
  • Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design and drafting standards.
  • Prepares documents for DCO release.
  • Utilizes electronic network data systems for file storage.
  • Modifies tool designs according to trial or production service data to improve processing or equipment performance.
  • Studies specification and confers with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, services requirements and manufacturing procedure and cost.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience with a BS degree (Mechanical or Bio med engineering degree preferred)
  • Candidates are required to have medical device / implantable experience. Looking for a strong designer in that space.
  • Need strong experience in SolidWorks to drive product modeling for both PDP and exploratory concept generation activities.
