Saint Paul Arena Company - Graphic Designer: $52,000 - $55,000 annually
Position Summary: The Graphic Designer enhances the Saint Paul Arena Company's (SPAC) brand through innovative visual storytelling and creative design. Specifically, this role supports graphic design for external and internal needs for Grand Casino Arena, Saint Paul RiverCentre, and Roy Wilkins Auditorium. This role develops engaging, audience-focused visual communications that strengthen brand recognition, support strategic business objectives, and delivers a consistent experience across digital, print, and event-related platforms. In addition, collaborates across teams to develop impactful, on-brand visual solutions that support business objectives, engage audiences, and enhance the overall experience for external guests, clients, fans and internal co-workers.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
  • Support the execution of creative projects through collaboration, design, and adherence to brand standards.
    • Collaborate and create graphic designs and layout elements for advertising, social media, email marketing, websites, digital signage, print collateral, environmental graphics, and presentations utilizing Adobe Creative Suite and other design tools.
    • Develop creative campaigns that promote concerts, sporting events, conventions, special events, and sustainability efforts across multiple marketing channels.
    • Design a wide variety of signage and informational communications for both internal and external customers.
    • Utilize ad mats and other content to design or redesign materials for the desired outcome.
    • Develop and present creative solution options for approval, modifying based on feedback received.
    • Create assets for digital advertising campaigns, email marketing, websites, and mobile applications.
    • Adhere to brand imaging standards to ensure visual consistency across all platforms.
    • Create standardized templates for use by others within the organization.
    • Assist in the production of graphics for arena matrix displays and video productions.
  • Collaborate across teams and contribute to concept development and content strategy.
    • Collaborate with marketing and communications staff to develop new creative concepts supporting strategic marketing campaigns.
    • Support the graphic design needs of a wide variety of internal departments and be known for delivering quality product with exceptional customer service.
    • Assist in evolving brand standards and design templates.
    • Take ideas from concept to completion to build and sustain consistent, loyal, and engaging fan interaction.
    • Create and maintain effective working relationships throughout the organization.
  • Manage production timelines and digital content updates under the guidance of the SPAC Marketing Department.
    • Manage multiple creative projects simultaneously while meeting tight production deadlines.
    • Work under the supervision of the SPAC Director of Marketing to ensure all production requests from internal and external customers are met.
    • Utilize project management software to manage project tasks, deadlines, and communication needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
Formal Education & Certification:
  • Associate's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience:
  • At least two years of experience in a similar role on a creative team within an agency and/or in-house team.
  • Knowledge of graphics-related Adobe Creative Cloud programs: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Proven graphic design technical abilities with a strong understanding of and experience in branding, layout, color theory and typography in both print and digital media.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite to include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience designing web content management systems and digital platforms is preferred.
  • Experience creating motion graphics and short-form animations for digital and social media is preferred.
  • Familiarity with photography, photo editing, and video editing is a plus.

Work Conditions:
  • This position works long, irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on events or projects throughout the campus. Days off each week will vary based on business needs.
  • Comfortable working in a live event environment where priorities can shift quickly due to artist requests, event changes, or operational needs.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing up and down stairs, kneeling, twisting, lifting, grasping, etc., spending most, if not all, of a work shift on your feet.
  • Lifting requirements include being able to lift 50 pounds.
