Job description

Company Description

Astound Video Duplication and Transfer is the Upper Midwest's leading media transfer company. Founded in 2000, we have helped over 36,000 individuals and organizations throughout Minnesota and across the country preserve their analog media in digital formats.

A local family-owned business, we operate five retail locations in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area including a 3,000sf production facility in Roseville, MN that houses our dedicated film, video, audio, diskette and imaging departments.

Our willingness to work with customers to solve their media preservation challenges, our commitment to invest in new technology and equipment, and our laid-back work environment have made us a market leader that continues to thrive after 25 years in business.

We are always looking for friendly, detail-oriented, tech-savvy people to join our team.

Job Description

Are you passionate about home movies and family history? Do you enjoy experiencing family history through the lens of home videos? Are you the person everyone in your family turns to with a video or media question? We are looking for reliable individuals with strong attention to detail to join our team at our Apple Valley, MN location.

We often refer to our Media Transfer and Customer Service Specialists as "video gurus." They are usually familiar with audio/video/media terminology and have some experience in a customer service role. We cross train them in various media transfer departments so they are familiar with our processes, and then train them to work with customers.

This full-time position is in our Apple Valley, MN location, with occasional travel to our other stores in the Twin Cities metro as needed. This is not a remote position. Regular required hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 9:30am-5:30pm.

Tasks

Tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning and organizing incoming media for transfer
  • Carefully operating transfer equipment
  • Maintaining an organized and timely workflow for completing transfers
  • Working with customers in a retail environment, writing up orders, handling payments, and answering media-related questions as needed

Position is full-time, approximately 40 hours per week with opportunities for additional hours as workload allows. Occasional Saturday hours and shifts at other stores in the metro are required.

Compensation

This is an hourly position. Starting wage is $17 - $20 per hour depending upon qualifications with a review after 6 months. Benefits include paid time off, profit sharing, and overtime (anything over 40 hours in a week) paid at time and a half. Overqualified applicants are welcome to apply, but wage range is fixed. We will be accepting and reviewing applications on an ongoing basis until the position is filled. All of your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.

Interested applicants should submit: a cover letter of not more than one typed page explaining why you are applying for this position, and a current resume.

Qualifications

Candidates must be detail oriented, comfortable working alone, and self-motivated.

Ideal candidates will have retail sales/customer service experience.

Familiarity with audio and video terminology as it relates to consumer cameras, audio, video tape formats and decks, video codecs, editing, etc. is helpful but not required, so long as you possess a general aptitude for working with technology. Knowledge of and/or passion for analog media are a true asset.

There are no minimum education requirements, but basic computer literacy including basic file operations, and familiarity with usage of a web browser is required. While advanced computer skills are not required, the more computer-literate you are, the better! Strong written communication skills are essential.

Additional Information

With under 15 employees, Astound Video Duplication and Transfer isn't able to offer big corporate benefits like health insurance or retirement plans, but we value our employees and strive to provide an enjoyable, flexible, low-stress work environment.
