How does a Video Editing Manager typically collaborate with other departments during a production cycle?

A Video Editing Manager works closely with producers, directors, and creative teams to ensure that the editing process aligns with the overall vision of the project. They often participate in planning meetings, review scripts or storyboards, and coordinate with sound and visual effects departments to integrate all elements smoothly. Effective communication and project management are essential, as the manager must balance creative input with technical requirements and deadlines. This collaborative approach helps deliver cohesive and high-quality video content.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Video Editing Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Video Editing Manager, you need advanced video editing skills, project management experience, and a strong portfolio, often supported by a degree in film, media, or a related field. Proficiency in editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and familiarity with asset management systems are typically required. Leadership, creativity, and effective communication are essential soft skills for guiding teams and collaborating with stakeholders. These skills ensure high-quality video output, efficient workflows, and strong team performance in a fast-paced production environment.

Job description

Hiebing is a passionate, full-service crew fueled by curiosity and collaboration. Our teams in Madison and Austin work together to craft meaningful stories for brands we love and pro bono causes we believe in. We believe inย We Before Me, where the team has your back, and aย Yes Andย mindset, where good ideas get better when others build on them.

Weโ€™re looking for anย inspired Motion Designer / Video Editorย to join our small and mighty video production team. In this role, youโ€™ll collaborate closely with writers, art directors, creative directors, and content specialists to bring ideas to life throughย motion graphics, animation, and video editing.

Youโ€™ll work across a wide range of projectsโ€”fromย logo animation and social content to digital video and brand commercialsโ€”and play a meaningful role in shaping how ideas show up in the world.

Hiebing is an agency, which means the pace is dynamic and the work is varied. This role is best suited for someone who feels energized by momentum, enjoys juggling multiple creative asks, and can adapt quickly without losing attention to detail. If you thrive in a fast-moving, collaborative environment where your work gets seen and shared, youโ€™ll feel right at home.

What weโ€™re looking for:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in motion design and video editing
  • Highly skilledย inย Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Comfortable working with expressions in After Effects to create complex animationsย
  • Primarily 2D animation experience (3D animation is a plus but not necessary)ย
  • Fearlessness toward AI inย streamliningย workflows and elevating outputs
  • Ability to apply thoughtful creative judgment when using AI-enabled tools, ensuring work remains original, strategically sound, and aligned with client goals and brand standards
  • Leverage AI-enabled creative tools to explore ideas, accelerate concept development, and support creative execution, while ensuring final work reflects Hiebing's standards for strategic thinking, creativity, and craft
  • A strong eye for detail and visual storytelling
  • Comfort managing multiple projects and deadlines
  • A portfolio showcasing motion and video work
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future

Why Hiebing:
