Optimizing our enrollment mix is crucial to the long-term viability of Indiana University (IU) Indianapolis. There are several factors that influence a student's college choice, persistence, graduation, and success. The Division of Enrollment Management is comprised of over 100 full-time staff in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships, Office of the Registrar, Office for Veterans and Military Personnel, as well as other areas supporting student enrollment. The Division also oversees and provides insight for its enrollment operations for the Fort Wayne and Columbus campuses.

Job Summary
We're looking for a creative, versatile communicator who can bring stories to life through video and social media. The Videographer and Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for shooting and editing compelling video content, managing our social media presence across multiple platforms, and leading a small team of student ambassadors to support content creation. This role blends hands-on creative production with strategic digital communications, helping us engage prospective students and their families, strengthen the admissions brand, and showcase what makes IU Indianapolis stand out.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Plans, shoots, and edits high-quality video content for web, social, and event use
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to identify story opportunities and ensure videos align with brand and messaging goals
  • Manages video assets, including archiving, captioning, and adapting content for different platforms
  • Leads day-to-day management of official social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.)
  • Develops and implements content calendars that align with organizational goals and audience interests
  • Tracks performance analytics, providing insights and recommendations for growth and engagement.
  • Stays on top of trends, tools, and best practices to keep content fresh and relevant
  • Recruits, trains, and mentors student ambassadors who assist with social content creation
  • Provides creative direction, feedback, and support to ensure student-generated content aligns with brand standards
General Responsibilities
  • Develops and updates social media content and monitors brand's social networks, responding to comments and collecting feedback from audiences
  • Creates comprehensive plans for social media engagement, including conducting market research to identify social media sites preferred by target audiences, engaging types of posts, and peak engagement posting times
  • Evaluates effectiveness of social media on a variety of metrics, such as changes in website traffic, attendance at social media marketed events, and engagement by platform, audience, and type of post
  • Regularly consults with staff, faculty, colleagues, departments, and/or other stakeholders to curate social media content to specific programs, goals, audiences, and objectives
  • Ensures alignment with university mission, strategies, objectives, and brand guidelines across all social media platforms and content.
  • May provide guidance to social media assistants
Qualifications

EDUCATION
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
  • Experience shooting and editing video
  • Motion graphics or animation experience
  • Graphic design experience
  • Leadership experience, particularly mentoring or supervising students/interns
SKILLS

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment.
