Job Description:

Staff Vice President (VP) Agentic AI

Location: May be located in any Elevance Health PulsePoint office preferably in Indianapolis, IN, Atlanta, GA, Mason, OH, Richmond, VA, Norfolk, VA or Woodland Hills, CA.

This role requires associates to be in-office at least 3days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered. Summary

This role provides dedicated enterprise leadership for the unified intelligence and orchestration layer that powers engagement across SMS, Conversational AI, digital experiences, and agent-assisted calls. The leader is accountable for building the enterprise brain that brings together member context, interaction history, journey status, preferences, intents, next-best actions, and operational signals into a reusable platform that can be scaled across Elevance Health and Carelon. The role also creates a single point of accountability across enterprise AI intake and delivery alignment, AI solutions engineering and reuse, EHAP marketplace and governance automation, and predictive member engagement capabilities now being led across multiple director-level teams.

Team Scope

8 direct reports / ~75 total FTE's

Position Responsibilities

AI Services strategy and roadmap

  • Define and evolve the strategic roadmap for agentic AI intelligence and member orchestration, ensuring alignment to enterprise priorities for containment, personalization, service modernization, and reusable AI products.

  • Identify opportunities to reuse and extend existing AI platform modules, orchestration patterns, marketplace assets, and shared services in new enterprise solutions.

  • Maintain awareness of AI market trends, platform patterns, and emerging tools to continuously evolve the service portfolio and keep the organization current in enterprise agentic AI.

  • Translate the enterprise vision for a unified member intelligence and orchestration layer into a sequenced roadmap of capabilities, use cases, and delivery priorities.

  • Collaboration with AI engineering and platform teams

  • Partner closely with AI Engineering, EHAP, and enterprise platform teams to ensure orchestration capabilities are built on reusable architecture, shared services, and governed design patterns.

  • Create a formal feedback loop from delivery teams into platform and engineering teams to improve usability, performance, monitoring, governance, and feature readiness of reusable components.

  • Champion consistent standards for deployment, MLOps, observability, versioning, and quality assurance across all AI services.

  • Ensure that platform investments such as EHAP marketplace, agent factory, Spark enablement, and governance automation are translated into practical enterprise delivery assets and not just platform features.

Delivery and project oversight

  • Oversee multiple enterprise AI service engagements concurrently, from intake and scoping through development, deployment, stabilization, and value realization.

  • Align cross-functional resources across data science, AI engineering, solution architecture, product, and business stakeholders to meet project demand efficiently.

  • Drive execution consistency across agentic AI, member orchestration, predictive outreach, and engagement modernization efforts using common delivery standards and reusable assets.

  • Ensure solutions are delivered with strong controls for quality, privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.

Ecosystem integration and enablement

  • Work across IT, Product, Data, Contact Center, CRM, and digital teams to integrate AI solutions into the broader enterprise stack, including data pipelines, APIs, workflows, desktop platforms, and engagement systems.

  • Serve as an internal evangelist for reusable AI platform capabilities, helping business and technology leaders adopt shared solutions rather than rebuild local variants.

  • Ensure that deployed AI services are scalable, resilient, performant, and ready for enterprise production.

  • Lead the orchestration of intelligence across channels so that member context can follow the journey across voice, chat, digital, and agent-assisted experiences.

  • Team leadership and development

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing organization spanning enterprise AI intake and delivery alignment, AI solutions engineering, platform reuse and enablement, and predictive engagement capabilities.

  • Provide senior leadership across the directors and teams responsible for enterprise AI intake, orchestration engineering, EHAP marketplace and governance automation, Spark/platform enablement, and predictive member outreach.

  • Foster strong collaboration, open communication, and shared accountability across AI Services, AI Engineering, EHAP, and business-facing delivery teams.

  • Drive ongoing skill development so teams stay current on orchestration, agentic AI, reusable platform patterns, and responsible AI practices.

Stakeholder management and business impact

  • Act as the senior accountable leader for turning orchestration strategy into measurable business outcomes, including improved containment, better personalization, lower duplication, stronger platform reuse, and more consistent member experiences.

  • Partner with executive stakeholders across Carelon, Elevance Health, operations, product, and technology to align priorities, manage tradeoffs, and accelerate decisions.

  • Create visibility into delivery, value realization, platform adoption, and enterprise impact through common governance, reporting, and performance management.

  • Reduce execution risk by unifying leadership across work that is currently distributed across multiple teams and programs, including AI intake and alignment, AI engineering reuse, marketplace and governance automation, Spark evolution, and predictive engagement efforts.

Position Requirements

Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 15 years of leadership experience in programming environment; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background required.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences

  • Experience leading in large, matrix environments

  • Proven experience developing cross-functional relationships and leading through influence and expertise

  • Blended experience delivering results in large corporate environments, as well as fast-growing start-up organizations
