Job description

Are you an AI visionary who thrives at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and enterprise transformation? State Fund is seeking a Vice President to lead our Enterprise AI Office, a high-impact organization responsible for shaping how AI accelerates the future of our operations, customer experience, and workforce.
This is not just another leadership role - it's an opportunity to architect and scale AI across an entire enterprise with a mission-driven purpose.
Why This Role Matters
State Fund is investing in AI to reimagine the future of workers' compensation. As VP of the Enterprise AI Office, you will lead the organization into a bold new era of responsible, ethical, and high-value AI adoption. You will partner directly with senior executives to align cutting-edge AI capabilities with business goals, ensuring measurable impact and lasting transformation.
What You'll Lead
• Enterprise AI Strategy & Vision - Define the long-term AI roadmap and champion an AI-first mindset across the organization.
• Opportunity Identification & Innovation - Discover high-value AI use cases that drive efficiency, remove organizational blockers, and unlock new capabilities across business units.
• Vendor & Partner Leadership - Work closely with the AI Center of Excellence to evaluate best-in-class AI products and manage relationships with external technology providers.
• Change Management & Adoption - Lead enterprise-wide programs that build AI literacy, trust, and readiness, ensuring employees have the skills they need to succeed in an AI-enabled future.
• Talent Development - Build and mentor a world-class AI team, drive recruitment strategies, establish pipelines for emerging technical leaders, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
• Governance & Risk Management - Oversee responsible AI practices, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and ethical standards that enable safe, scalable AI deployment.
What You Bring
We're looking for an enterprise leader who is:
• Passionate about the transformational power of generative and agentic AI.
• Skilled in evaluating AI use cases, integrating multi-system AI workflows, and separating real opportunity from vendor hype.
• Strong at translating complex technical ideas into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with executives and frontline teams alike.
• Experienced in orchestrating human + AI workflows, prompting and designing AI agents, and using AI as a strategic thought partner.
• Adept at building high-performing teams and creating a culture of continuous learning.
Why Join State Fund
You'll get the rare opportunity to:
• Build an enterprise AI function from the ground up.
• Drive transformational change that directly improves outcomes for millions of California workers and employers.
• Partner with executive leaders who are committed to responsible innovation.
• Lead at an organization that values ethics, transparency, and long-term impact.
