Job description

We are UMG, the Universal Music Group. We are the world's leading music company. In everything we do, we are committed to artistry, innovation and entrepreneurship. We own and operate a broad array of businesses engaged in recorded music, music publishing, merchandising, and audiovisual content in more than 60 countries. We identify and develop recording artists and songwriters, and we produce, distribute and promote the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful music to delight and entertain fans around the world.
How we LEAD:
The VP, Streaming will lead MCA's efforts to drive sustained streaming growth across frontline releases, developing artists, priority projects, and catalog initiatives. Partnering closely with DSPs, MCA's internal teams (Executive, Marketing, Commerce, Digital, Promo, Creative, Analytics, and A&R), and UMG's Central Teams, this role is responsible for securing high-impact on-platform visibility, playlisting opportunities, and product support for MCA artists.
The VP will leverage data-driven insights to shape and optimize streaming strategies, ensuring MCA's artists achieve maximum reach and engagement. A key focus of the role is breaking new talent, expanding international presence, and strengthening catalog performance while building lasting relationships with DSP partners at all levels. Acting as a central collaborator with artists, managers, internal departments, and joint ventures, the VP, Streaming plays a critical role in advancing MCA's broader mission of delivering growth, innovation, and global impact in the digital music landscape.
How you'll CREATE:
  • Lead the streaming strategy for the MCA or Mercury Nashville/EMI Nashville/Lucille Records roster, driving innovation to staying ahead of market shifts, industry trends, and emerging DSP opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with DSP partners to secure visibility, playlisting, and marketing support for MCA's artists and releases.
  • Effectively pitch new albums, singles, focus tracks, and videos to DSPs, ensuring maximum editorial and marketing support.
  • Champion strategies to introduce and break new artists on DSP platforms.
  • Develop and execute ongoing growth strategies for established and superstar artist projects while strengthening catalog performance and maintaining consistent growth in streaming revenue.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (A&R, Marketing, Digital, Commerce, Analytics, Audience Development, Artist Teams, and JV Label Partners) to align streaming initiatives with broader company goals.
  • Work closely with the SVP, Commerce and Finance teams to forecast and manage budgets, and deliver on streaming revenue and consumption targets.
  • Analyze DSP and internal analytics to set projections, define KPIs, track performance, and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Drive pre-save/pre-add campaigns and post-release strategies to maximize both first-week impact and long-term consumption throughout the release cycle.
  • Collaborate with UMG's Central Teams and international markets to ensure best practices, global optimization, and ex-US growth strategies.
  • Communicate streaming goals, insights, and opportunities across MCA departments, to artist/management teams, and to DSP partners.
  • Utilize DSP partnerships to beta test new product offerings, pilot innovative marketing ideas, and capitalize on new platform initiatives.
  • Lead internal education on streaming strategy, establishing standard processes, clear goals, and scalable frameworks across MCA.
  • Represent MCA at industry events, partner meetings, and artist shows to strengthen relationships and advocate for label priorities.
  • Ensure all streaming strategies and communications reflect MCA's brand standards, legal requirements, and commitment to artists.

Bring your VIBE:
  • 7+ years of music industry experience, including 3+ years working directly with major DSPs.
  • Deep knowledge of DSP platforms and the global streaming landscape.
  • Strong understanding of the digital supply chain, metadata management, and their impact on DSP releases.
  • Familiarity with Country Radio, Publicity, and Digital/Social Media and how they influence streaming consumption and consumer behavior.
  • Knowledge of Country and adjacent genres, including Folk, Americana, and Christian Music.
  • Proficiency with Chartmetric, Luminate/MusicConnect, and DSP "for Artists" analytics platforms.
  • Exceptional organization, prioritization, and time management skills, with a proven track record of exceeding goals and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong executive presence with proven communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain best-in-class relationships with DSP partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external partners.
