Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is seeking part time Student Custodians for morning, day, and night shift opportunities. Under the direction of a Lead Custodian these positions perform custodial care.
Summary of Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Work under the supervision of a Lead Custodian and be responsible for a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to: emptying garbage cans, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping.
  • Complete tasks on a structured schedule and sometimes may be required to help cover for absent employees.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
  • Must be a current UVU student.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Knowledge proper use and disposal of hazardous chemicals and products.
  • Knowledge of body fluid cleanup and proper protection.
  • Knowledge of proper radio communications.
  • Knowledge of pest control.
  • Knowledge of all floor types, such as terrazzo, cement, wood, vinyl and ceramic tile as well as carpet fibers, weaves and backings.
  • Knowledge of waxes/polishes, acids, other chemicals, buffers, extractors, vacuums and scrubbers.
  • Knowledge of current cleaning techniques and proper cleaning chemicals.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to withstand strenuous and adverse working conditions.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform skilled custodial duties, equipment maintenance, and minor plumbing.
