Position Summary

TheDistribution Center General Manager (GM2)is responsible for leading a high-performing, fully automated distribution center that supports the timely and accurate delivery of auto parts and accessories to Advance Auto Parts retail locations. This highly visible leadership role requires a strategic, hands-on leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale operations, developing talent, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced, automated environment.

The GM will oversee a team of approximately20 managersand up to300 team members, ensuring operational excellence, safety, and a culture of engagement and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership, direction, and strategic oversight for all distribution center operations.
  • Build and develop a high-performing leadership team through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure operational efficiency and accuracy in handling a large and diverse SKU base, including both high- and low-velocity items.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including store teams, District Leaders, and Regional Vice Presidents.
  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of advanced sorting and material handling systems.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Set clear goals and performance expectations for teams and individuals, and ensure alignment with broader organizational objectives.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to ensure alignment and operational clarity.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 7-10 years of senior leadership experience in a distribution center or supply chain operations.
    • Proven experience managing automated facilities and large SKU inventories.
    • Demonstrated success in leading large teams in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency withRed Prairie WMSor similar warehouse management systems.
    • Familiarity with advanced sorting and handling equipment.
    • Hands-on experience with warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks).
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
    • Willingness to perform and understand all roles within the distribution center.
