Role Overview:

The VP of Technology Sourcing & Procurement will set the vision for strategically sourcing and proactively leading Salesforce's technology spend to optimize value, drive cost efficiencies, and manage supplier and executive stakeholder relationships. The VP will leverage their subject matter expertise in sourcing, finance, negotiation, supply chain, strategy, innovation, operating model development and analytics to manage a $4B annual spend, lead a team of 50, and drive transformational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Strategy: Partner with key stakeholders and Chief Procurement Officer to develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives and the departmental objectives of executive stakeholders. Continuously assess and adjust the strategy to respond to market dynamics and industry trends.

  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers. Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, pricing, and performance to ensure the highest quality and cost-effective supply chain solutions.

  • Transformation: Drive agentic transformation and process streamlining in Sourcing & Procurement organizations

  • Cost Management: Drive cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and process optimization. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.

  • Supply Chain Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve supply chain visibility, flexibility, and responsiveness. Enhance supply chain resilience and mitigate risks.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members.

  • Executive Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain consistent engagement with executive stakeholders across the organization to ensure that Sourcing & Procurement is aligned with their objectives and measurably contributing to their success.

  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect the company's interests.

  • Data Analysis: Leverage data analytics and technology to make informed decisions and drive procurement excellence. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports to senior leadership.

  • Sustainability Initiatives: Lead efforts to integrate sustainability and responsible sourcing practices into the procurement function, aligning with corporate sustainability goals.

  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the procurement department's budget effectively, optimizing resource allocation to achieve departmental goals. Consistently engage with Finance business partners and Executive Stakeholders to monitor and report contract spend, savings, and spend planning forecasts.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in procurement leadership roles with a track record of delivering measurable results.

  • Strategic and transformational thinker.

  • Experience with process automation and agentic transformation

  • Adept at navigating and building relationships in large, matrixed organizations.

  • Ability to influence senior management and key stakeholders by communicating the org's vision and accomplishments.

  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Familiarity with procurement software and data analytics tools.

  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in procurement.

  • Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities.

  • Strong communication, executive engagement, and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical and sustainable procurement practices.
