Job description

Who We Are

Weber Shandwick is more than a leading global PR agency - we're an engagement agency and we're working in and around the cutting edge of the new media landscape. We're storytellers, content creators, and we engage people IN the story. Our success is built on a deep commitment to client service and to our people. We embrace creativity and collaboration, and we engage stakeholders in new and creative ways to build brands and reputations.

Senior Vice President, Social & Influencer Strategy - Healthcare

Weber Shandwick is seeking a Senior Vice President, Social & Influencer Strategy to join our Healthcare team in the West (SF or LA preferred). This leader will drive integration across marketing functions for a portfolio of high-profile healthcare clients, with a focus on delivering best-in-class social, digital, and influencer strategies within a highly regulated environment.

This role requires a seasoned strategist who can operate at the intersection of innovation and compliance - bringing forward-thinking, culturally relevant ideas while navigating the nuances of healthcare, regulatory considerations, and risk mitigation. The Senior Vice President will serve as a trusted advisor to senior clients and internal stakeholders, shaping strategies that not only meet business objectives but also elevate the role of social and influencer engagement in driving meaningful impact.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in social and digital ecosystems, a sophisticated understanding of influencer strategy (including patient and HCP engagement), and a proven ability to lead team members as well as partner with CX and specialists to support integration across large businesses. This individual will be equally comfortable in executive-level client counsel, team leadership, and hands-on strategic development.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior strategic lead and trusted advisor across key client relationships, providing high-level counsel on social, digital, and influencer strategies within a regulated healthcare landscape
  • Guide clients and internal teams through the complexities of digital/social initiatives in healthcare communications, balancing innovation with compliance, and proactively identifying risks and opportunities
  • Lead the development of integrated, insight-driven social and influencer strategies that align with broader brand and business objectives
  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of large-scale, multi-channel programs - from strategic planning through implementation and measurement - ensuring excellence at every stage
  • Drive the evolution of influencer strategy, including patient, caregiver, and HCP engagement, with oversight of identification, vetting, contracting, content development, and performance evaluation
  • Shape and refine strategic narratives through compelling briefs, presentations, and storytelling that resonate with both clients and cross-functional partners
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams (CX, earned, paid, creative, analytics, sci comms) to ensure seamless integration and execution
  • Act as a senior escalation point, navigating complex client dynamics and ensuring alignment across stakeholders
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire team members - while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth
  • Partner with CX Lead to oversee financial management, including scope development, resource allocation of digital/social initiatives, and ensure programs are delivered on time and within budget
  • Champion innovation by staying ahead of emerging platforms, technologies, and cultural trends, translating these into actionable opportunities for clients
  • Contribute to new business efforts, including pitch development and thought leadership, helping to grow the healthcare social and influencer offering

Qualifications

  • 12-15+ years of experience in digital, social media, and/or digital PR, with significant healthcare experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise providing senior-level strategic counsel to clients, including navigating complex, highly regulated environments
  • Deep understanding of social media ecosystems, influencer strategy, and the evolving digital landscape, with a strong point of view on where the industry is heading
  • Proven ability to lead large, integrated teams and manage complex programs with multiple workstreams
  • Strong experience with patient and HCP influencer engagement, including an understanding of compliance considerations and best practices
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines, including media, creative, analytics, and medical/legal/regulatory teams
  • Strong business acumen, including experience managing scopes of work, budgets, and resource planning
  • Ability to synthesize data and insights into actionable recommendations that drive strategy and performance
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of excellence
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset with a passion for pushing boundaries and redefining what's possible in healthcare communications

Some travel is expected.
