Chief Product & Technology Officer

Nira Energy

Remote

Full-time

Re-posted 9 days ago

Job description

About Nira Energy
  • Nira's mission is to help convert the US power grid to be 100% fossil-free.
  • We are profitable!
  • Nira is a software platform that helps renewable energy developers find the cheapest points on the grid to connect.
  • We focus on estimating the cost to interconnect with the electrical grid (aka the Interconnection Process). Depending on where developers connect, they may be on the hook to pay millions of dollars to upgrade power lines, substations etc.

About the role
We are looking for a Chief Product & Technology Officer to lead Nira's Product, Engineering, and Transmission Planning organization. The CPTO will own Nira's product roadmap and execution, manage a VP of Engineering, a VP of Transmission Planning, and our individual Product Leads. Ultimately this role will be responsible for building the function that helps the company scale product development with speed and quality from end to end.
This is not a classic CTO role and not a pure CPO role. The ideal candidate is a technical product operator: someone who can learn a complex domain, translate customer and market insight into product strategy, and drive cross-functional teams to ship mission critical software.
What you'll own
• Development of product roadmap and execution across Product, Engineering, and Transmission Planning
• Translation of customer, market, and founder insight into product strategy, priorities, and execution plans
• Building the operating cadence for product development: roadmap planning, product reviews, execution reviews, and customer feedback loops
• Management and coaching of Product Leads, VP Engineering, and VP Transmission Planning.
• Cross-functional decision-making across customer value, technical feasibility, domain correctness, speed, and business impact
• Product quality, usability, reliability, and customer impact
What we're looking for
• Senior product or technical leadership experience in complex B2B software
• Strong product judgment and track record of execution: you can turn ambiguity into plans, owners, milestones, and shipped product
• Ability to quickly learn a highly niche / complex domain
• Experience managing product teams, engineering teams, or cross-functional technical teams
• Excellent communication and people leadership skills
• Comfort partnering closely with founders while progressively taking ownership of product strategy and roadmap
Ideal backgrounds
• VP Product / CPO at a technical B2B SaaS company.
• GM of a complex technical product line.
• Product leader who has managed a team or product function end to end
• Former technical or product founder who scaled into executive leadership
• Bonus points for experience in energy, grid infrastructure, climate, utilities, transmission, interconnection, or power markets
