Position Summary:
The AVP or VP Assistant Controller serves as key support to the Controller.This position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting andfinancial reporting for multiple entities on a U.S. Statutory and U.S. GAAPbasis.
Role Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Lead the accounting team, providing clear direction aligned with Company objectives, financial strategy, and risk management priorities
Act as a key partner to the Controller and executive leadership team, contributing to financial governance, operating strategy, and business decision-making
Prepare and present financial analysis and insights to senior leadership and the Board of Directors
Act as Controller in their absence, ensuring continuity in leadership, decision making, and execution
Develop and mentor team members, fostering a high-performance, accountable, and collaborative environment
FinancialClose, Reporting, and Disclosures
Oversee the quarterly and annual close processes, ensuring accurate, timely and, and well-controlled financial reporting
Lead the preparation and review of U.S. Statutory and GAAP financial statements, footnotes, and management reporting packages
Ensure completeness and accuracy of internal and external reporting, including Board materials, regulatory filings, rating agency deliverables, and client reporting
Establish and enforce close calendars, review standards, and reporting governance across the accounting team
TechnicalInsurance Accounting
Provide technical accounting leadership across life, annuity and reinsurance transactions
Oversee accounting and analysis for reinsurance structures, including: Modco and funds withheld arrangements, coinsurance and YRT treaties, and embedded derivatives and investment-related features where applicable
Support interpretation and application of new accounting guidance (U.S. GAAP and U.S STAT) and ensure consistent implementation
Document methodologies and accounting policies used by Wilton Re in support of U.S. GAAP and U.S. STAT accounting and reporting
Controls,Audit, and Risk Management
Maintain and enhance a robust internal control framework, including SOX and Model Audit Rule compliance
Oversee documentation, testing, and remediation of key controls across the accounting and reporting processes
Coordinate and lead external and internal audits, ensuring efficient execution and timely issue resolution
Establish and enforce accounting policies and governance standards
Systems,Data, and Process Improvement
Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, focusing on efficiency, scalability, and accuracy
Oversee and optimize use of financial systems and tools
Partner with IT and other finance teams to enhance data infrastructure, reporting capabilities, and automation
Identify and implement opportunities to strength data quality, reconciliations, and workflow automation
Cross-Functionaland Business Support
Collaborate with Business Development and New Deal Integration teams to evaluate accounting implications of new transactions, acquisitions, and reinsurance arrangements
Partner with Actuarial, Treasury, Tax, and Investment teams to ensure alignment across financial reporting and business activities
Provide accounting guidance on new transactions and strategic initiatives
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years within the life insurance or reinsurance industry
Deep knowledge of U.S. Statutory and GAAP accounting applicable to insurance and reinsurance companies
Big 4 public accounting experience or combination of public and private experience
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex financial transactions and information
Demonstrated ability to evaluate, streamline, and enhance business processes to improve efficiency and control
Proven sound judgment and decision-making capabilities in a dynamic environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders across all levels and functions
Proven ability to lead, develop, and manage teams while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience managing outsourced and third-party service provider relationships, ensuring quality, accountability, and performance
Required Education / Certifications:
Bachelor'sdegree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Candidatewith CPA or MBA preferred

This role may be filled at a level dependent on theexperience and qualifications of the applicant.
Base salary/hourlyrate range for this position in Connecticut is between $150,000 and $220,000.Please note that specific compensation decisions are based upon a variety ofjob-related factors as permitted by law, including geographic location,credentials, skills, education, training and experience.
