Description

The Vice President of IT Business Applications is accountable for the strategic leadership, delivery, and operational excellence of Armadaโ€™s enterprise application portfolio. This role ensures that business applications, including ERP, WMS, TMS, HCM, Finance, and shared services platforms, deliver measurable business value, enable scalable operations, and align tightly with Armadaโ€™s business strategy.

The VP acts as a senior business partner to executive and functional leadership, balancing runโ€‘theโ€‘business stability with transformational change, while leading an enterprise PMO and defining application strategy, roadmap planning, investment prioritization, and organizational capability development.

This is a hybrid role requiring at least 3 days per week in our new office located at 2000 Innovation Drive, Wexford, PA 15090

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Application Strategy & Leadership

  • Own the enterprise application strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with Armadaโ€™s shortโ€‘ and longโ€‘term business objectives
  • Translate corporate and functional strategies into executable application initiatives with clear outcomes and ROI
  • Champion modular, scalable application architectures and modernization approaches

Business Partnership & Value Delivery

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders across Operations, Finance, HR, Commercial, and Shared Services
  • Ensure strong Business Relationship Management (BRM) practices that shape demand, prioritize initiatives, and manage expectations
  • Drive outcomesโ€‘focused delivery, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable value, not just technical completion

Portfolio, Program, and Investment Governance

  • Provide executive leadership and direction to application portfolio management in partnership with the PMO
  • Ensure consistent prioritization, funding alignment, and capacity planning across projects, enhancements, and support
  • Oversee business case development, benefits realization, and postโ€‘implementation value tracking

Enterprise PMO Ownership & Delivery Operating Model

  • Establishing the delivery operating model, governance cadence, and decision rights across business and IT initiatives
  • Define and enforce standards for program/project management (intake, scoping, planning, RAID, stage gates, and closeout), ensuring consistency and auditability
  • Lead enterprise demand management, partnering with business leaders to shape requests into clear charters, resourcing plans, and valueโ€‘based priorities
  • Own integrated portfolio reporting (schedule, budget, risks, dependencies, benefits) and deliver executiveโ€‘ready dashboards and narratives for steering committees
  • Establish capacity and resource management practices across PMs, BAs, product/application teams, and vendors
  • Standardize toolsets and ways of working to improve performance

Operational Excellence & Risk Management

  • Accountable for application reliability, performance, security posture, and vendor risk across the portfolio
  • Ensure effective lifecycle management for all applications (projects, enhancements, support, and sunsetting)
  • Act as the senior escalation point for critical application issues and businessโ€‘impacting incidents

Technology Enablement & Innovation

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve productivity and business outcomes through:
  • Process automation and optimization
  • RPA, AI, and emerging technologies
  • Data and integration improvements
  • Partner with Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, and Integration teams to ensure cohesive solutions

People Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Lead and develop Directors, Managers, and senior application leaders
  • Build a highโ€‘performing, businessโ€‘oriented applications organization with clear accountability and ownership
  • Drive talent development, succession planning, and modern skill adoption across the team
  • Own strategic vendor relationships and system integrators across the application ecosystem
  • Ensure vendors deliver against contractual obligations, roadmaps, and Armadaโ€™s business expectations
  • Guide sourcing decisions and manage total cost of ownership

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct leadership of Directors and Managers responsible for:
  • Shared Service Applications (ERP, JDE, UKG)
  • Operations (WMS, TMS, IMS)
  • Business Analysis / BRM capabilities
  • PMO
  • Oversight of thirdโ€‘party and managed service partners supporting application delivery and operations

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or related field (Masterโ€™s preferred)
  • 12+ years of progressive IT leadership experience supporting enterprise business applications
  • Demonstrated success leading largeโ€‘scale application portfolios in complex, operationally intensive environments
  • Strong background in ERP and supply chain systems (e.g., WMS, TMS, Finance, HR)

  • Strong financial acumen and investment governance experience
  • Deep understanding of the full application lifecycle (strategy, delivery, support, retirement)
