Market Development Manager - Protein - Decatur, IL
Position Summary:
Within the Nutrition business unit, the plant-based protein business has a mission to be the global leader in non-meat based proteins, developing novel solutions to meet the ever-changing needs of consumers. The Market Development Manager will be responsible for driving growth of the North America Protein business. Additionally, the position will interact with global nutrition colleagues across multipe functions, including sales, marketing, regulatory, and creation, design and development (CD&D). The position reports directly to the VP, Protein North America and will be located in Decatur, IL
Responsibilities:
  • Assess and evaluate consumer-demand retail data, trade flows, government contracts, and general market studies that will determine go-to-market priorities by application and channel.  Additionally will:
      • Perform market and customer mapping
      • Identify customers outperforming their peers
      • Calculate addressable market size
      • Understand where we are winning and accelerate learnings throughout the organization
      • Identify potential customers and prioritize based on business impact
  • Prioritize and assign potential customer opportunities to various sales team members based on priority and application
  • Monitor and track progress of new customer pipeline
  • Assist with new customer vetting and cold calling
  • Determine priority customers to support new ingredient product launches
  • Partner with commercial leaders to understand product line priorities
  • Balance growth priorities by understanding both industry trends and asset capabilities
  • Drive sales through successful collaboration with ADM sales force, business development, marketing and CD&D
Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Ability to consolidate raw data into clear, prioritized action items
  • Strong presenter/communicator both within and outside the organization
  • Comfortable/experienced with analytics, preferred experience with Salesforce and AI tools
  • Effective at working in a matrix organization
  • Exhibits strong leadership and project management skills
  • Entrepreneurial owners mindset
  • Excellent collaborator and team player
  • Demonstrates ability to work under pressure and maintain flexibility to adjust to achieve organizational goals in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels inside and outside of the organization

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite
  •  The position requires 20% travel and a strong work ethic
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of sales, business management, market strategy, or food ingredient experience
  • Experience developing business strategies
  • Experience in Go to Market strategies
  • Strategic "hunter" mentality
