Construction Department

The Vantage Construction Team is the key collaborator on critical path of every successful project. Construction relies on the human element to achieve impressive results, applying the newest technologies to build out new sites, manage cost, and maintain schedule in line with goals of the company. Our construction staff is empowered to drive tangible results, aligning long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics. Construction personnel are uniquely qualified to exist in high pressure situations, making the best decisions to achieve personal, project, and company objectives!

Position Overview

This position can be based onsite in Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Sterling, VA; or Shackelford County, TX.

Vantage has created a new position for a Vice President of Project Controls. This person will identify and develop proven project controls across Vantage's Construction Program as part of our end-to-end data center development cycle! This leader will drive a company program supporting four main pillars within project controls: scheduling, cost estimating, change management, and reporting. The VP of Project Controls will work with other Vantage management to identify standard methodologies, build and lead a team, demonstrating internal and external resources to improve speed to market, optimize returns, manage risks, and establish a scalable change management process.

Essential Job Functions

Leadership and Vision:

Identify existing best practices, subject matter experts, and historical data to develop a program best suited to Vantage Construction

Architect project control systems and processes integrating with existing practices

Leverage historical data and predictive analytics to support data-driven decision-making, influencing positive results with internal and external customers.

Collaborate with Vantage New Site Development and CCF to provide a unified and collaborative approach to ensure adjacent departments receive the tools they need to provide the best service to the Delivery function.

Project Planning and Scheduling:

Establish minimum standards for planning and scheduling, allowing for geographical nuances of projects while maintaining best practice guidelines on all efforts

Oversee the creation, maintenance, and completion of regional and project schedules throughout the project lifecycle to meet or exceed targets.

Create and maintain a schedule database to set allowable ranges of each activity based on historical data and drive to best-in-class schedules to enable development teams to develop stretch targets throughout the pre-construction phase of a project.

Cost Management:

Establish useable budgets and manage costs to meet or exceed cost targets.

Leverage cost databases using Vantage software programs to establish budget accuracy and optimize financial results.

Utilize cost accounting software dashboards with real-time telemetry at project, site, region, and national levels.

Contribute to the month-end financial forecasting process and ensure risk exposure and gainful opportunities are accurately reported

Risk and Change Management:

At project start, develop risk management plans and maintain them throughout the project with mitigation strategies.

Establish a change management workflow incorporating existing processes and best practices.

Support Development design and Operations evaluations to assess cost and schedule impacts of proposed changes.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

Utilize data to produce real-time status, KPIs, and predictive analytics.

Prepare detailed cost, schedule, risk, and upside reports for project teams and management.

Contribute to the month-end financial forecasting process and ensure risk exposure is accurately reported.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Partner with global teams to harvest lessons learned and feedback to program-level project controls.

Ensure contractors comply with cost/schedule formats and data inputs for efficient data management.

Job Requirements

Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Finance or equivalent work experience

Minimum of 15 years of experience in project controls, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role, preferably within the data center or similar mission critical sector.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Proficiency in project control software and tools (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project).

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Travel required is expected to be up to 35% but may increase over time as the business evolves.

Additional Details

Salary Range: $255,000-$265,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
