Title: Vice President, Insurance Accounting 

Work Mode: Fully in office, then hybrid 3-4 days after training period | Location/Supporting: Longwood, FL office

About the Role: The Vice President, Insurance Accounting is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of IOA’s agency operational accounting functions, including Agency Bill, Direct Bill, and Accounts Receivable operations. Reporting to the SVP, Corporate Controller, this role leads operational accounting teams supporting a large, multi-entity insurance organization while ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, operational scalability, and process excellence. The VP serves as a key partner to Accounting, Finance, Operations, and executive leadership, driving continuous improvement and supporting the organization's long-term growth strategy. 
 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Operational Accounting Leadership: Provide leadership and oversight of agency operational accounting functions, including billing, collections, accounts receivable, and related financial operations. 

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, develop, and support accounting leaders and team members across Agency Bill, Direct Bill, and Accounts Receivable functions. 

  • Financial Operations Management: Ensure accurate, efficient, and scalable accounting operations within Applied EPIC and related financial systems. 

  • Process Optimization: Evaluate existing workflows and implement improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and service delivery. 

  • Month-End Close Leadership: Lead initiatives to strengthen accounting processes, improve reporting quality, and reduce financial close timelines. 

  • Controls & Compliance: Ensure strong operational accounting controls, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company policies and accounting standards. 

  • Trust Accounting Oversight: Maintain awareness of insurance trust accounting requirements and ensure compliance with applicable state and industry regulations. 

  • Financial Stewardship: Support financial performance objectives through effective management of resources, accounting processes, and operational efficiencies. 

  • Organizational Planning: Partner with executive leadership to assess organizational structure, staffing requirements, and long-term departmental scalability. 

  • Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, automation, resource optimization, and strategic cost management. 

  • Best Practices & Standardization: Develop and implement accounting best practices, governance standards, and scalable procedures that support organizational growth. 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Finance, Operations, Technology, and business leaders to support strategic initiatives and operational effectiveness. 

  • Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor key performance indicators, service standards, and operational metrics to drive accountability and continuous improvement. 

  • Professional Development: Continuously strengthen technical, accounting, and industry knowledge through ongoing development opportunities..

Ideal Candidate Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field 

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, preferably within an insurance brokerage or agency environment 

  • Strong experience leading operational accounting, billing, and accounts receivable functions 

  • Demonstrated success managing and developing high-performing accounting teams 

  • Experience with Applied EPIC or comparable agency management systems 

  • Deep knowledge of accounting controls, financial operations, and process improvement methodologies 

  • Insurance trust accounting and regulatory compliance experience strongly preferred 

  • Proven ability to lead organizational change and operational transformation initiatives 

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills 

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities

The expected pay range for this position is $170,000 to $180,000 per year, depending on experience, relevant skills, and geographic location.
