Job Summary:
The VP, Process Engineering & Automation provides strategic organizational and technical leadership for Process Engineering, Manufacturing Test Engineering, and Automation across Masimo's global manufacturing network. This role establishes and executes the enterprise strategy for manufacturing processes, manufacturing test systems, automation, equipment, industrialization, and manufacturing technology to enable scalable production, operational excellence, product quality, and cost-effective growth. The Vice President leads the development and deployment of advanced manufacturing capabilities, drives successful new product industrialization and technology transfer, and partners with R&D, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and other senior leaders to align manufacturing capabilities with product and business strategy.
Please note this is a full-time onsite position in Irvine, CA.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Define and execute the global strategy, technical roadmap, and operating model for Process Engineering, Manufacturing Test, Automation, manufacturing technology, equipment, and industrialization capabilities.
  • Lead Process Engineering, Manufacturing Test, and Automation organizations responsible for process development, manufacturing readiness, manufacturing test systems, automation systems, validation, technology transfer, and continuous improvement across Masimo's global manufacturing network.
  • Partner with R&D, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and other functional leaders to ensure manufacturability, scalability, automation, quality, cost, and production readiness are incorporated throughout the product development and manufacturing lifecycle.
  • Provide executive leadership for new product industrialization, process development and validation, design transfer, manufacturing scale-up, and complex technology transfers across domestic and international manufacturing locations.
  • Develop and advance automation and manufacturing technology strategies that improve productivity, quality, capacity, consistency, labor efficiency, and manufacturing flexibility, including the evaluation and deployment of emerging technologies.
  • Oversee the design and deployment of comprehensive hardware and software electro-mechanical test systems for our devices and high-volume sensors.
  • Establish engineering standards and governance for manufacturing processes, automation, test equipment, and capital investments, including technology selection, prioritization, qualification, implementation, and lifecycle management.
  • Drive engineering and operational excellence through Lean, Six Sigma, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), data-driven manufacturing, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Establish organizational priorities, performance measures, budgets, resource plans, and capital strategies while ensuring engineering investments and capabilities support business, product, quality, and operational objectives.
  • Build and lead a high-performing global engineering organization through organizational design, talent development, succession planning, performance management, and development and retention of critical technical capabilities.
  • Ensure Process Engineering, Manufacturing Test, and Automation activities, systems, documentation, and deliverables comply with applicable company, customer, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, including FDA Quality System requirements and ISO 13485; perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, automation, manufacturing technology, industrialization, or related engineering disciplines, including 8+ years of progressive people leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading leaders and multidisciplinary engineering organizations responsible for complex manufacturing processes, automation, equipment, industrialization, and manufacturing technology.
  • Extensive experience with new product industrialization, process development and validation, automation implementation, design transfer, manufacturing scale-up, technology transfer, and continuous improvement within complex manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute engineering and automation strategies across multiple products, manufacturing sites, or global operations, including significant capital investments and technology deployments.
  • Strong knowledge of regulated manufacturing environments, including FDA Quality System requirements, ISO 13485, process validation, risk management, and applicable medical device manufacturing requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business and product strategy into engineering capabilities, technology roadmaps, organizational priorities, resource requirements, and capital investment strategies.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence and partner effectively with executive and senior leaders across R&D, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and other functions, with exceptional strategic thinking, technical judgment, communication, and organizational leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Executive leadership experience within the medical device, life sciences, or other highly regulated manufacturing industry, including responsibility for geographically dispersed or global engineering and manufacturing organizations.
  • Experience with electromechanical products and manufacturing technologies including automated assembly and test systems, robotics, machine vision, electronic and mechanical manufacturing processes, plastic injection molding, cable assembly, or related technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and deploying advanced automation, digital manufacturing, manufacturing data, or other smart manufacturing capabilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Lean, Six Sigma, DOE, SPC, and related engineering and continuous improvement methodologies.

Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline is required; master's degree in engineering, Engineering Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Compensation + Benefits: The anticipated range for this position is $220,000 - $300,000. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience. This position also qualifies for up to 30% annual bonus based on Company, department, and individual performance. Physical requirements/Work Environment:
This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required. May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities. Domestic and international travel may be required to support global manufacturing operations, technology transfers, automation initiatives, capital projects, and other business needs.
