Job description

Are you an operations leader who thinks like an owner and builds for scale? If that sounds like you, keep reading, we'd like to meet you.

We're hiring a VP of Operations to help lead the next chapter here at PEC (Pacific Energy Concepts). Before we get into the role, here's a bit about who we are.

We've been at this for more than 17 years, long enough to earn a real reputation, and we're still growing fast. We work hard, laugh hard, and build genuinely good things together. Our core values, Build to Last, Do the Right Thing, Play to Win, and Push the Envelope, aren't the empty talking points you'll find stenciled on most office walls. They're how we hire, how we operate, and how we make decisions.

We're North America's most innovative energy optimization company. We deliver customized energy-efficiency solutions (LED Lighting, Advanced Controls, Energy Monitoring, and EV Charging Stations) that go beyond energy savings, helping our partners run efficient, save money, and work happy, all while reducing their carbon footprint.

With deep expertise across the energy-efficiency industry, we design, develop, and deploy targeted solutions in some of the most complex and specialized environments out there. It's why brands like Costco, IKEA, Jeld-Wen, and Alaska Airlines (to name a few of the 5,000+ companies we work with) put their trust in us.

The Job

We're looking for an experienced and strategic leader to join our executive team as Vice President of Operations. The Vice President (VP) of Operations is a key member of PEC's Executive Leadership Team responsible for scaling and optimizing project operations across current and future energy solution offerings. This role owns the operational infrastructure of the business including project delivery, operational systems, process excellence, operational technology, and financial performance. The VP serves as the operational architect, building scalable systems, solving complex business challenges, and developing leaders that enable PEC's long-term growth toward and beyond $100M in revenue.

This position is an in-office role in our Vancouver, WA headquarters and involves approximately 25% travel to other PEC offices and operational locations.

The salary range for this position is $220,000 - $275,000. This range represents the full available range for the position, final offer will be dependent on numerous factors including skill level, prior experience, education, and certifications.

Job Duties

Executive & Operational Leadership

  • Serve as a member of PEC's Executive Leadership Team, contributing to company strategy, operational planning, and execution.
  • Lead project delivery operations across lighting, EVSE, energy monitoring, and future energy solutions.
  • Establish scalable operational frameworks supporting both portfolio rollouts and complex deployments.

Operational Ownership & Business Excellence

  • Own the design, optimization, and scalability of PEC's operational ecosystem, including systems, workflows, governance, and core operating processes.
  • Serve as executive owner for resolving complex operational issues through structured problem solving and cross-functional leadership.
  • Develop repeatable, scalable business processes that improve efficiency, accountability, customer experience, and profitability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that eliminate bottlenecks and standardize best practices.

Project Operations & Delivery Oversight

  • Lead the project management organization with accountability for delivery performance, execution quality, operational efficiency, and cost control.
  • Oversee project delivery functions ensuring projects are executed safely, profitably, and in alignment with customer expectations.

Operational Systems & Technology

  • Own PEC's Operations Technology Ecosystem, including project management software, business intelligence, workflow automation, and operational platforms.
  • Optimize operational reporting, dashboards, and KPIs to support executive decision-making.

Financial & Business Performance

  • Own the operational P&L in partnership with Finance.
  • Develop and manage the Operations budget, forecasts, and labor planning.
  • Use operational and financial analytics to improve gross margin, efficiency, and profitability.

People Leadership & Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and develop operational leaders.
  • Build a culture of accountability, transparency, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Act as a player-coach when needed while developing future leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Business Administration, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 15-20+ years of progressive leadership experience in project operations, construction management, or energy solutions.
  • Demonstrated success solving complex operational problems and leading enterprise process improvements.
  • Experience owning operational budgets, forecasting, and P&L performance.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing ERP and operational technology platforms.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing operational teams at scale.
  • Experience across multi-measure energy solutions (lighting, HVAC, solar, storage, BMS, energy data) preferred.
