Who We SeekHispanic Federation (HF) seeks a dynamic, engaged Vice President for Development Strategy to work closely with the Senior Vice President of Institutional Development on devising strong, sustainable fundraising strategies, create and implement workflows to ease inter- and intradepartmental work, and serve as a champion of HF’s work to funders, major donors, and foundation staff.The successful candidate will be an individual who understands and is passionate about the mission and vision of HF, exemplifies its core values, can articulate its mission to donors and prospects in a way that both educates and compels them to give, and provide a vision for the growth of HF’s grant and individual donor portfolio. Additionally, the successful candidate will have experience meeting six- and seven-figure annual fundraising goals utilizing multiple fundraising channels, experience in supervising an experienced team of grant writers and fundraisers, and an understanding of systems needed for organizational success in the fundraising arena.The Vice President for Development Strategy works closely with the executive team, including the President of Hispanic Federation to manage all aspects of the Federation’s fundraising activities and initiatives.Position Specific ResponsibilitiesStrategic Grant Writing & Institutional FundingPipeline Architecture: Move beyond reactive grant writing to proactively map and align institutional funding cycles (private, corporate, and public) with the organization’s long-term strategic plan. Concept to Creation: Translate complex programmatic initiatives and systemic change goals into compelling, high-yield grant proposals. Funder Alignment: Treat institutional funders as strategic partners, aligning our organizational KPIs with their philanthropic missions to secure multi-year, unrestricted funding. Compliance & Evaluation Ecosystems: Oversee the data infrastructure required to meet rigorous public reporting standards, ensuring data evaluation is used as a storytelling tool and a tool for compliance as part of a strategy for future funding. Revenue Development: Identify new opportunities to expand organizational funding from charitable or earned sources and design, plan and lead successful new fundraising channel initiatives based on well-crafted strategies. Leadership and Team Development: Manages and supports the Development staff; contributes to continued growth of organization through team development. The VP also participates in Board meetings and serves as staff resource for the Board’s Fundraising Committee.High-Level Donor Stewardship & Major GiftsStewardship for Major Donors: Design and manage data-driven stewardship plans for major donors ($25K+), ensuring they see the tangible, systemic impact of their investments. Cultivating Talking Points and Delivering Pitches: Act as a primary solicitor and strategic partner to the SVP for Institutional Giving, confidently delivering high-stakes pitches and plans for securing six- to seven-figure commitments from corporate and high net-worth partners. Movements Over Moments: Shift donor mindsets from transactional giving to long-term advocacy and systemic investment in the organization's mission. Donor Data: Utilize donor management systems to identify, cultivate, and elevate mid-tier donors into high-level champions. Support the development of stronger data systems to maximize impact and better engage donors across the organization. Communications, Branding and Marketing: Work closely with the Vice President for Development, the Senior Vice President for Institutional Development, and the Vice President for Communications Strategy to build a communications plan that supports all fundraising and program efforts.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSLeadership and ExperienceMinimum of 7 years of progressive fundraising experience, with at least 3 years in a strategic leadership role. Demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding measurable fundraising goals in a nonprofit environment, experience working within six- and seven-figure funding goals is highly preferred. Experience supervising and managing a geographically distributed team with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, delegate responsibility, and inspire, engage and motivate staff.Strategic and Technical ExpertiseStrong background managing diverse fundraising streams, including high-net-worth individuals, foundation and corporate relations, online outreach, and direct mail campaigns. Proficiency with fundraising applications using available data to perform comprehensive donor data analysis and reporting, forecasting, and budgeting across the fiscal year. Experience leveraging websites and social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, X, Facebook) to drive donor engagement, cultivate prospects, and amplify organizational mission.Documented experience working effectively with individuals from diverse socio-economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds.CompensationThe salary range for this position starts at $125,000- $140,000 is commensurate with experience. Compensation includes fully paid medical, dental, vision insurance; access to flexible spending for medical and transportation; and a 403 (B) retirement plan available at start, with organization match after 6 months of service.
