Job Title: Vice President of Institutional Advancement

Reports to: College President

Division: Institutional Advancement

Exempt/Non-Exempt Status: EXEMPT

Date: May 2026

Employment Status: Full-time


Summary:
Louisburg College seeks a strategic, dynamic, and externally engaged leader to serve as Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Reporting directly to the President and serving as a member of the senior leadership team, the Vice President will provide vision, leadership, and direction for the College’s comprehensive advancement program and serve as the institution’s chief fundraising officer.

The Vice President will lead efforts to strengthen philanthropic support, expand alumni and community engagement, and advance the College’s mission and strategic priorities through a comprehensive development strategy encompassing major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, grants, and campaign initiatives.


As a visible ambassador for the College, the Vice President will cultivate strong relationships with alumni, donors, foundations, corporations, community leaders, and friends of the institution while building a culture of philanthropy across campus.


Core Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Advancement Leadership

o   Provide strategic leadership for all institutional advancement initiatives in alignment with the College’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.

o   Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy designed to grow philanthropic revenue, donor engagement, and long-term institutional support.

o   Strengthen advancement infrastructure, systems, processes, and performance metrics to support sustainable fundraising growth and campaign readiness.

o   Serve as a key institutional ambassador and representative of Louisburg College within the community and among external stakeholders.


Major and Principal Gifts Fundraising - Serve as the College’s lead fundraiser, managing a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects and donors.

o    Lead the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors capable of transformational support.

o    Direct fundraising efforts across major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, foundation and corporate relations, grants, and special campaigns.

o    Establish measurable fundraising goals and ensure accountability through data-informed strategy and reporting.


Presidential and Trustee Partnership

o    Partner closely with the President to develop and coordinate cultivation and solicitation strategies for key donors and prospects.

o    Support and prepare the President for advancement-related activities, donor engagement, and philanthropic outreach.

o    Collaborate with the Board of Trustees and Advancement Committee to strengthen trustee involvement in fundraising, donor cultivation, and institutional advocacy.

o    Provide strategic guidance and support to trustees and volunteers in advancing philanthropic initiatives.

Alumni Engagement and Advancement Operations

o    Oversee alumni engagement strategies designed to strengthen lifelong connection, participation, and support for the College.

o    Provide leadership for donor stewardship, advancement communications, engagement programming, and institutional events that strengthen relationships and advance philanthropic goals.

o    Ensure effective advancement operations, including prospect management, gift administration, reporting, and donor engagement systems.

Team Leadership and Culture

o    Lead, mentor, and develop a small advancement team responsible for fundraising operations, alumni relations, engagement activities, and donor services.

o    Foster a collaborative, high-performing, and mission-centered culture grounded in professionalism, accountability, innovation, and service.

o    Encourage data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement across all advancement functions.

Required Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

·         Minimum of 7–10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in fundraising, advancement, development, or related external relations roles.

·         Demonstrated success securing major and leadership-level gifts.

·         Experience working effectively with presidents, senior leaders, boards, and volunteers.

·         Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and strategic leadership skills.

·         Ability to think strategically while effectively executing operational priorities.

·         Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends for donor and institutional events.


Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience in higher education advancement.

·         Experience leading or supporting comprehensive fundraising campaigns.

·         Knowledge of foundation relations and grant development.

·         Familiarity with donor database systems, fundraising analytics, and advancement reporting tools.
