Job description

About Solx

Solx is building the next generation of intelligent manufacturing. Our factory floor is where advanced hardware meets advanced software — and where AI at the edge directly drives yield, throughput, quality, and uptime. We are investing in the systems, infrastructure, and talent to make our operations the most intelligent in the industry — and we are building the manufacturing capacity to match that ambition.

About the Role

Own every yard of dirt. As Civil Project Manager, you are accountable for all civil and sitework scope on Solx's greenfield manufacturing expansion in Puerto Rico — from site prep and mass grading through roads, parking, site utilities, and stormwater. You will take the site from raw ground to a pad-ready, fully serviced platform that the building and equipment teams can construct on, on budget and on schedule.

This is a hands-on, on-site role for a builder with deep heavy-civil experience who has delivered large, complex sitework packages and knows how to manage earthwork, hydrology, and utilities in an aggressive, high-stakes environment. You will manage the civil contractors and engineers who execute the work and coordinate closely with the structural, building, and MEP teams. You will report directly to the VP, Capital Projects.

Core Responsibilities

• Own scope, budget, and schedule for all civil and sitework packages — site preparation, earthwork, grading, drainage, roads, parking, and site utilities.

• Manage civil and heavy-civil contractors and subcontractors from bid through closeout; administer contracts, change orders, and pay applications.

• Direct mass grading and earthwork — cut/fill balance, soil management, compaction, and coordination with geotechnical requirements.

• Own site hydrology and stormwater management — drainage, detention/retention, erosion and sediment control (SWPPP), and flood and hurricane resilience.

• Manage roads, truck routes, paving, parking, curbs, sidewalks, and site hardscape.

• Coordinate wet and dry underground utilities — water, sanitary and storm sewer, power, gas, and communications — to the building pad.

• Interface civil scope with foundations, structural, building, and MEP packages to protect the overall project schedule.

• Manage survey, staking, and as-built control; review civil drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs.

• Secure and maintain civil-related permits — grading/earthwork, stormwater, and right-of-way — with Puerto Rico agencies.

• Run project controls for civil packages — cost, schedule, QA/QC, and clear reporting to the VP, Capital Projects.

• Own site safety for civil operations, including heavy equipment, excavation, and trenching.

What You'll Work On

The scope of this role spans the full civil development of a high-tech manufacturing campus, including: site clearing and demolition, mass grading and earthwork, hydrology and stormwater systems, erosion and sediment control, roads and parking, site hardscape, and wet and dry underground utilities.

• Full site development of a multi-gigawatt manufacturing campus — clearing, mass grading, and earthwork across a large brownfield/greenfield site.

• Site hydrology and stormwater systems engineered for tropical rainfall and hurricane resilience.

• Roads, truck routes, parking, and site circulation for a high-volume manufacturing operation.

• Underground wet and dry utility corridors feeding the fab.

• Erosion control, environmental compliance, and geotechnical coordination across the site.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years managing civil and sitework construction, with deep, hands-on expertise in earthwork, grading, drainage, and site utilities.

• Delivered civil/sitework scopes on large capital projects — individually or cumulatively $50M+.

• Strong command of site hydrology and stormwater management, erosion/sediment control, and grading and earthwork optimization (cut/fill balance).

• Proven experience managing heavy-civil contractors and subcontractors and administering complex contracts.

• Fluent reading civil and site drawings and specifications; comfortable with geotechnical reports and survey control.

• Direct experience with grading, stormwater (SWPPP), and site permitting.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.

• Strong problem-solving instincts, field presence, and the ability to drive contractors to schedule and quality.

• Willingness to be based on-site in Puerto Rico for the duration of the sitework.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or PMP certification.

• Experience delivering projects in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, or other tropical, high-rainfall, hurricane-exposed environments.

• Experience developing brownfield or former-industrial sites.

• Familiarity with large industrial or advanced-manufacturing site development.

• Experience with island or logistics-constrained construction (including Jones Act considerations).

• Bilingual English/Spanish.

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

This is an on-site role based at an active construction site. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The role typically requires the ability to:

• Walk active construction sites and uneven or graded terrain for extended periods, in outdoor conditions and varying weather.

• Access excavations, elevated areas, and confined spaces as needed, and climb ladders or stairs.

• Work around heavy equipment, moving machinery, dust, noise, and construction hazards.

• Use standard personal protective equipment (PPE) as required on the construction site.

• Occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment, typically up to approximately 25 lbs.

Reasonable Accommodation

Solx provides reasonable accommodations to applicants with disabilities. If you need an accommodation during the application or interview process, contact [email].

Solx is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
