Job description

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, Principal Infrastructure Engineer to join our TSG Mainframe Database Enterprise Services team. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA. 

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:  

  • Install/configure/upgrade DB2 and related software products. This includes middleware. products that may have both mainframe and distributed components.
  • Troubleshoot DB2 subsystem problems.
  • Customize software to meet user needs.
  • Communicating, Scheduling and coordination of changes, requests and incidents.
  • Initiate and participate in Proofs of Concept for new technologies.
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery and other mainframe exercises.
  • Work after normal business hours and on weekends to perform software upgrades and coverage.
  • Support multiple projects/upgrades/initiatives simultaneously.
  • Be available to provide 24X7 coverage and support and respond to calls for assistance in a timely manner.
  • Designs, implements, integrates, and provides full support for complex software in a multi-tiered, multi-platform environment.
  • Researches and recommends the appropriate system software to meet corporate standards and objectives for system performance.
  • Identifies and solves complex and critical systems related issues to meet the objectives for the corporation.
  • Provides input into platform selection, version implementation, software product recommendation, and usage of enhanced functionality.
  • Assists with complex issues in the installation, support, troubleshooting, and repair of data centre equipment.
  • Implements, integrates, and provides full support for middleware software in a multi-tiered, multi-platform environment.
  • Collaborates and consults with application development teams to determine middleware platform selection, efficient transaction design, use and recovery procedures in line with business requirements.
  • Communicates with internal and external system users to address concerns and make sure that technical issues are dealt with appropriately.
  • Manage ticket queues and handles complex escalated issues.
  • Analyze repeat incident patterns to identify opportunities for cost reduction and productivity enhancements.
  • Work with vendors to ensure efficient incident resolution.  

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:  

  • Strong z/OS Mainframe Systems Programming background, including SMPE.
  • Senior level knowledge of DB2 and DB2 Data Sharing.
  • Experience working with vendors to resolve software and Systems issues.
  • Installation and Maintenance of DB2 Program Product Installations (with creating Implementation and Backout Plans)
  • Ability to provide coverage for DB2 and Product installations and the many mainframe initiatives. Willing to work weekends.
  • Strong Knowledge of REXX Programming
  • DB2 Connect on LUW skills are huge pluses.
  • Experience with Performance/Monitoring products and performance tuning is a plus
  • Knowledge on products like BMC-Catalog Manager, BMC-Apptune, IBM-Optim, Rocket-Shadow,  Broadcom - SYSVIEW , Informatica-Powerexchange, IBM  Q/SQL-Rep
  • Able to communicate effectively with application programmers and DBA’s.
  • Troubleshoot DB2 subsystem problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Ability to lead projects and complete them on schedule.
  • Experience with Service Now and JIRA.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred, 8 - 10 years of related infrastructure experience required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $104,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and company- sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team.Â
