POSITION SUMMARY:
The role is a leadership role within the organization's Information Systems & Technology department, responsible for the delivery and operational performance of enterprise revenue cycle applications across the organization. The role provides direction and day-to-day operational oversight for Revenue Cycle areas, as well as the portfolio of third-party applications that integrate with Electronic Health Record.
This role provides direction and day-to-day operational oversight for Epic mid and back revenue cycle modules-including Hospital Billing (HB), Professional Billing (PB), Resolute Claims, Coding, and Health Information Management (HIM)-as well as the portfolio of third-party applications that integrate with Epic to support end-to-end revenue cycle operations, including coding platforms, computer-assisted coding (CAC), clinical documentation improvement (CDI) tools, clearinghouses, contract management, and denial management systems.
The role serves as a primary Information Technology (IT) partner to business leaders, participates actively in governance processes, and ensures that application investments, priorities, and performance align with the organization's financial and operational goals. The role collaborates closely with stakeholders across the organization to support a reliable, compliant, and high-performing environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
People Leadership:
• Effectively recruits and retains talent for continuous support of aligned business areas. Fosters a team-based environment that collaborates across multiple disciplines to focus on continuous improvement and engagement. Monitors and recognizes performance of people and supports people in professional development. Supports workplace well-being and workplace safety.
Strategic Leadership:
• Develops and executes a multi-year strategic roadmap for aligned with clinical, operational, and financial goals. Translates organizational strategy into priorities, capabilities, and investments. Serves as an IT delegate in governance meetings, steering committees, and executive forums. Champions initiatives that enhance service performance improvement. Stays current with specialized area industry trends to identify capabilities that drive operational improvement.
Business Area Ownership:
• Maintains application ownership and accountability for Epic mid and back revenue cycle modules, including Hospital Billing (HB), Professional Billing (PB), Resolute Claims, Coding, and Health Information Management (HIM). Oversees the full application lifecycle-configuration, optimization, upgrades, integration, and rationalization-to ensure alignment with revenue cycle workflows and regulatory requirements. Partners with operational leaders to evaluate and expand Epic functionality as organizational needs evolve.
• Directs the portfolio of third-party revenue cycle applications-including coding platforms, CAC/CDI tools, clearinghouses, contract management, and denial management systems-ensuring seamless integration with Epic and alignment with enterprise architecture standards. Collaborates with Revenue Cycle operations and Coding Compliance to support revenue integrity, including application configuration that underpins Charge Description Master (CDM) accuracy, charge capture completeness, and coding workflow integrity.
Stakeholder Partnership:
• Serves as a primary IT partner to senior business leaders, including VP-level stakeholders across stakeholders. Builds trusted relationships that enable effective demand management, prioritization, and communication of IT capabilities and constraints.
• Translates technical concepts into business language and frames application decisions in terms of impact, operational risk, and regulatory compliance. Communicates project status, system performance, and issue resolution in a manner appropriate for senior audiences.
Governance and Portfolio Management:
• Participates actively in IT governance processes, in change advisory boards, architecture review committees, and portfolio prioritization forums. Leads intake, demand management, and prioritization portfolio, balancing operational stability with strategic enhancement.
• Ensures that all changes, integrations, and vendor additions follow established governance standards and enterprise architectural principles. Partners with enterprise architecture and IT leadership to maintain standards and policies governing application design, integration, and data management.
Risk, Compliance, and Regulatory Adherence:
• Manages risk for the portfolio, including operational, regulatory, privacy, and vendor risk. Ensures applications are configured and maintained in compliance with applicable healthcare regulations and industry frameworks.
• Partners with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Coding Compliance, and Internal Audit to support audits, regulatory inquiries, and policy updates. Maintains controls, standards, and procedures governing application access, charge integrity, and claims submission.
Operational Performance and Service Management:
• Provides leadership for the design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of all applications and their supporting infrastructure. Establishes and matures service management practices-including incident, problem, change, request, and knowledge management consistent with ITIL or comparable frameworks.
• Manages outages and disruptions, leads incident response and post-incident review, and provides timely updates and root-cause analysis. Fosters a culture of reliability and operational discipline that directly supports revenue cycle performance and cash flow continuity.
• Partners to monitor key performance indicators and uses application-level insights to inform configuration decisions and drive systemic performance improvement.
Solution Delivery:
• Translates workflow, compliance, and financial outcome needs into prioritized application capabilities and solutions. Oversees the delivery of programs and projects using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies, ensuring quality, predictability, and value realization. Supports change management strategies that drive successful adoption of implementations and optimizations-including workflow redesign, training coordination, and communications-and measures the operational and financial outcomes of delivered solutions.
Financial and Vendor Stewardship:
• Owns the operating and capital budget for the portfolio, including forecasting, variance management, and cost optimization. Develops business cases that articulate value, risk, and total cost of ownership for proposed investments. Manages strategic vendor and partner relationships-including Epic, revenue cycle-specific software publishers, clearinghouses, and implementation partners-ensuring contractual performance, service levels, license optimization, and product roadmap alignment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Effective for those hired after 04/05/2026, Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Effective for those hired after 04/05/2026, 5+ years' experience in a leadership or management capacity required.
- Effective for those hired as of 04/05/2026, 8+ years' experience in Revenue Cycle healthcare information technology required.
