Job description

Trueline, an established Northern California design-build electrical contractor with a dedicated in-house engineering team, is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer to join their team in Fremont, California. This role offers the opportunity to design commercial and industrial electrical systems, support projects from concept through construction, and work closely with project managers, estimators, field teams, clients, and experienced engineering leaders.
What You'll Do as the Electrical Power Engineer:
  • Design electrical power distribution systems for commercial and industrial building projects
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations
  • Perform load calculations and size electrical equipment
  • Develop single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and distribution plans
  • Design lighting systems, lighting controls, and equipment power connections
  • Design emergency power, generator, and uninterruptible power supply systems
  • Perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies
  • Prepare California Title 24 documentation
  • Complete photometric analyses and energy studies
  • Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and low-voltage disciplines
  • Review RFIs, shop drawings, equipment submittals, and construction documents
  • Resolve field design issues in partnership with project managers and construction teams
  • Participate in meetings with clients, utilities, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Ensure designs comply with the NEC, California Building Code, and other applicable standards
  • Support projects across sectors including data centers, healthcare, clean rooms, advanced manufacturing, education, pharmaceutical, and commercial facilities

Must-Haves as the Electrical Power Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience designing electrical power systems for commercial or industrial buildings
  • Strong understanding of electrical power distribution and load calculations
  • Experience developing single-line diagrams and panel schedules
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to work onsite in Fremont Monday through Friday
  • Collaborative, coachable approach and willingness to receive technical feedback

Nice-to-Haves as the Electrical Power Engineer:
  • 3-6 years of commercial building power design experience
  • Engineer-in-Training or Fundamentals of Engineering credential
  • Professional Engineer license
  • Design-build project experience
  • SKM Power Tools experience
  • AGi32 experience
  • EnergyPro experience
  • California Title 24 documentation experience
  • Arc flash, short circuit, and coordination study experience
  • Experience supporting data center, healthcare, clean room, advanced manufacturing, school, pharmaceutical, or commercial projects
  • Experience following projects from design through field installation and completion
