Avalon Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Vice President of Digital to lead and shape our digital department as a core capability of the organization. This is a senior executive role responsible for setting direction, strengthening our digital practice, and partnering across the company to deliver thoughtful, effective fundraising and online marketing strategies for mission-driven organizations.


As a member of Avalon's executive team, you'll bring a forward-looking perspective on where digital is headed, paired with a grounded understanding of the realities our nonprofit clients face. You'll lead a talented team of digital leaders, foster strong cross-functional collaboration, and help ensure our work is both innovative and practical.


This role is ideal for a leader who combines vision with follow-through, values collaboration, and takes a thoughtful, team-first approach to leadership.


What You'll Do

  • Set the vision for Digital at Avalon- Define and guide Avalon's digital fundraising and engagement strategy, bringing a clear point of view on industry trends and emerging opportunities, while ensuring approaches are actionable and aligned with client needs.
  • Lead as an enterprise partner- Collaborate closely with Client Services, Analytics, Creative, Production, HR, and Marketing to align priorities, solve challenges, and advance shared goals across the organization.
  • Operate at the executive level- Serve as an active member of the executive team, contributing to company-wide strategy, advocating for Digital approaches that will expand client programs, and translating broader direction into clear, actionable guidance for your team.
  • Manage the budget and P&L of the department- Define pricing strategy, and coordinate with the finance team on strategic investments.
  • Create clarity and consistency- Provide steady, reliable leadership that establishes clear priorities, supports decision-making, and ensures follow-through across the Digital department.
  • Develop and lead a strong and fast-growing team- Supervise Digital Vice Presidents and senior leaders, fostering an environment where individuals are supported, challenged, and able to do their best work.
  • Strengthen collaboration and communication- Model thoughtful, transparent communication and sound judgment in how you engage with colleagues, clients, and partners.
  • Support client and program success- Maintain strategic oversight of key client relationships and digital programs, ensuring strong performance, thoughtfully leveraging new digital opportunities, and ensuring long-term partnership success.
  • Advance digital innovation- Identify opportunities to evolve Avalon's digital offerings in ways that are forward-looking, practical, and impactful for our clients.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

If you're our ideal candidate, you'll bring:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in digital direct response fundraising and marketing, including leadership of teams and strategy 
  • Demonstrated success leading digital strategy in an agency, consulting, or complex nonprofit environment 
  • A strong understanding of large, multi-channel digital fundraising, engagement, and brand awareness programs, including email, SMS, paid media, web, and emerging platforms 
  • Experience leading and developing senior leaders and building high-performing teams 
  • A clear, informed perspective on digital trends and how they apply in a nonprofit context 
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution and client realities

The budgeted salary range for this position is $185,000 to $195,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
