Overview

OVG is seeking a commercially minded leader to serve as Vice President, Revenue & Marketing and drive the franchise's strategic and commercial growth. This role will lead marketing and revenue-generating functions in alignment with OVG's growth plan. In the first year, priorities include marketing, sales support, sponsorship development and activation, social media, and brand-building initiatives.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of the Acrisure Arena and Coachella Valley Firebirds, this executive will ensure the franchise meets its commercial objectives, maximizes community and fan engagement, and builds a sustainable, high-impact business platform supporting both local and league-wide growth. Operating within a start-up model, this role will also be instrumental in shaping the franchise's strategic vision, plan, and ethos while ensuring alignment with the goals of OVG, Acrisure Arena, and the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

The VP will be both an entrepreneurial and strategic executive, with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills that honor a culture of integrity, respect, and excellence. This individual will serve as a key team representative for basketball-related matters and as one of the faces of the organization within the Coachella Valley. The role will lead the creation and execution of an annual business plan, including the development and tracking of key performance indicators in collaboration with ownership. This individual will be responsible for driving measurable growth across key business areas, including paid attendance, sponsorship revenue, and social media metrics that evidence the clear growth of the team and the brand.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of growing corporate partnerships and brand market share, experience managing teams, and a history of building a high-performance, results-driven culture. They will bring both an entrepreneurial mindset and strategic leadership approach, with the ability to engage local stakeholders and foster lasting connections between the franchise, its fans, and the community.

This role will pay an annual salary of $135,000 to $150,000 and is bonus eligible.

This position will remain open until August 7, 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate exceptional business acumen with full accountability for building and managing the franchise P&L.
  • Shape and inspire company culture through servant leadership, reflecting the vision, core values, and ideals of ownership, players, and the organization.
  • Build, hire, train, and lead a diverse, high-performing team committed to establishing the Coachella Valley Lakers as the premier franchise in the league.
  • Design and execute strategic sales plans to achieve annual and long-term revenue and profitability targets.
  • Lead all revenue-generating strategies, including ticket sales, group sales, partnerships, and additional revenue channels.
  • Develop and implement integrated marketing strategies to drive ticket sales, brand awareness, and fan loyalty.
  • Oversee all marketing channels, including digital, social media, email, paid media, and in-game promotions.
  • Build and execute creative campaigns, promotional calendars, and content strategies that elevate the brand.
  • Drive sponsorship revenue through the development, sale, and activation of partnership opportunities.
  • Collaborate with corporate partners to deliver innovative, high-impact activations and maximize attendance and yield.
  • Develop fan-centric, multi-channel marketing programs that increase acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.
  • Establish and track key performance metrics to monitor organizational performance and team progress.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable, and inclusive environment across all levels of the organization.
  • Together with ownership, lead the Coachella Valley Lakers community engagement efforts, empowering the community relations team to define and amplify the franchise's local brand impact.
  • Partner with venue leadership to maximize event utilization, operational success, and overall revenue opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance management, and professional development opportunities.
  • Align holistic plans and positioning with the Los Angeles Lakers franchise to drive maximum brand value, continuity of messaging, and seamless implementation.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience with an emphasis in the consumer-facing sports, media, or entertainment business.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required; a master's degree/MBA is preferred.
  • Specific success in increasing revenue and generating brand energy.
  • Ability, desire, and passion for building diverse, best-in-class teams that possess a commitment to excellence and an understanding of the innovator mindset.
  • Expertise in marketing and digital technology landscape, including industry trends, key industry leaders, terminology, and overall knowledge of the sports, entertainment, and media landscape.
  • Ability to work well with multiple stakeholders across ownership, the league office, community constituents, and others.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate cross-departmentally to achieve goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable with developing long-term business relationships, public speaking, and serving as an ambassador to the business and corporate communities.
