VP of Lending


Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Lending to lead and oversee the organizationโ€™s lending operations. This executive will be responsible for driving profitable loan growth while maintaining strong credit quality, effective risk management, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional member/customer experience.

The VP of Lending will provide leadership across consumer, indirect, real estate lending, and collections, while developing and implementing lending strategies, policies, procedures, and processes that support the organization's overall business objectives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven lending leader who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and build innovative solutions that drive sustainable growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all lending activities, including consumer, indirect, real estate, and related lending functions.
  • Lead and develop lending and collections teams, establishing clear performance expectations and accountability.
  • Develop and implement lending strategies designed to increase loan production, profitability, portfolio quality, and overall market penetration.
  • Establish and maintain effective lending policies, procedures, underwriting standards, and risk controls.
  • Monitor loan portfolio performance, delinquency, charge-offs, collections, and other key lending metrics.
  • Ensure lending practices comply with applicable federal and state regulations, internal policies, and industry standards.
  • Utilize MeridianLink Administration and other technology platforms to support efficient lending operations and continuous process improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline lending processes, improve the borrower/member experience, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Develop and execute innovative lending programs, products, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
  • Partner with senior leadership to establish lending goals, budgets, forecasts, and strategic priorities.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive lending practices, and portfolio performance to identify opportunities and potential risks.
  • Communicate lending performance, trends, opportunities, and challenges to executive leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Foster strong relationships across the organization and promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and exceptional service.
  • Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain high-performing lending professionals.
  • Stay current on changes in lending regulations, industry trends, technology, and best practices.


Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive lending management experience, including consumer, indirect, and real estate lending, as well as collections.
  • 3+ years of senior leadership experience in a VP, AVP, Director, or comparable role.
  • Banking, credit union, or financial institution experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and growing a diverse loan portfolio.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and MeridianLink Administration.
  • Must be registered through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) and maintain required registration.
  • Strong knowledge of lending practices, credit risk, underwriting, collections, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to develop and successfully execute innovative ideas, concepts, processes, and lending initiatives.
  • Experience with loan promotions, marketing strategies, and business development.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance loan growth with sound credit and risk management.
