Job description

Quincy Credit Union is seeking an experienced Vice President, Controller to lead its accounting and financial reporting operations. This senior leadership position oversees accounting, budgeting, regulatory reporting, investment accounting, internal controls, audits, and financial analysis while serving as a strategic partner to the Chief Financial Officer. The role directly supervises the Senior Accountant and Accounts Payable Specialist. This is an on-site position in Quincy, MA.
Responsibilities
  • Direct accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, investments, accruals, reconciliations, and financial systems.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes and prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, profitability analysis, and long-range financial planning.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with GAAP, NCUA requirements, state regulations, and internal policies.
  • Manage investment accounting and provide financial, liquidity, and interest-rate-risk analysis to the Asset Liability Committee.
  • Oversee the Allowance for Credit Losses methodology, CECL calculations, assumptions, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain effective internal controls, coordinate audits and examinations, and monitor corrective actions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Finance Department staff while promoting accountability, teamwork, cross-training, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in strategic projects and cross-functional organizational initiatives.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • CPA designation or an advanced degree preferred.
  • At least seven years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
  • At least three years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, regulatory reporting, audits, CECL, and investment accounting.
  • Credit union or financial institution experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial institution accounting practices.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting system skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound professional judgment
