Citi is seeking a Vice President to join the Citi Impact Fund investment team, which manages a $500 million fund dedicated to venture capital investing and market-based solutions. The Citi Impact Fund was launched in 2020 with the mission to advance opportunity for economically vulnerable communities through direct equity investments in innovative, technology-driven startups addressing society’s most pressing challenges. This position represents an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while leveraging your investment expertise within a global financial institution. The Vice President will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina, with frequent travel to New York. This role requires collaboration with the investment team on multiple aspects of fund management, including investment execution, due diligence, portfolio management, sourcing strategy, and partnership activities within the impact investing and startup ecosystem. The successful candidate will work closely with subject matter experts across Citi to drive collaboration, identify synergies, and create opportunities that advance the success of portfolio companies and the broader impact investing field. The Citi Impact Fund operates across four key investment verticals: climate resilience, financial resilience, social infrastructure, and future of work. Climate resilience focuses on solutions for climate transition, mitigation, and adaptation to protect natural and built environments from harmful climate change effects, which disproportionately impact underserved communities. Financial resilience investments provide underserved communities with opportunities to create, manage, and build financial wellness. Social infrastructure investments expand access to essential services including housing, healthcare, and transportation for underserved communities. Future of work investments provide access to stable, quality jobs and modern, relevant education and training for workers and students while reimagining work-life balance.

• Lead due diligence and investment thesis building on prospective investment opportunities
• Prepare investment memorandums and build financial models for investment evaluation
• Conduct market research and present findings to the internal investment committee
• Manage investment approval processes and coordinate with internal stakeholders
• Work cross-functionally within the firm on both new investment and follow-on investment processes
• Maintain close relationships and build trust with internal business partners
• Support sourcing, market landscaping, and thesis building activities within the Fund’s focus areas
• Develop strong relationships with key venture capital, impact investing, and startup ecosystem players
• Represent the Fund at industry events
• Manage a portfolio of investments and monitor company performance
• Track financial and impact results across portfolio companies
• Prepare internal quarterly portfolio reviews and other analyses
• Support follow-on investment opportunities, including diligence, approvals, execution, and structuring
• Support portfolio companies by attending founder meetings and enabling partnerships across Citi
• Lead internal partner engagement on governance and operational items throughout the investment lifecycle
• Manage portfolio analysis and data projects for Citi risk and control functions
• Support firm-wide reporting needs related to portfolio performance and impact

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a technical or analytical discipline such as finance or economics
• Commitment to the Citi Impact Fund’s focus on driving economic opportunity and innovating in impact investing
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in private equity or venture capital investing
• Total of 4-5+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, strategy consulting, corporate finance, or direct business/startup operating experience in one of the fund’s investment verticals
• Strong preference for direct investing experience in at least one of Citi Impact Fund’s key verticals
• Specific experience or interest in impact investing strongly preferred
• Strong finance and investment acumen including ability to develop and manage complex financial models
• Proficiency with data analysis and Excel
• Ability to work with large data sets
• Capability to conduct rigorous primary market and industry diligence
• Ability to prepare valuation analysis and synthesize findings in written investment materials
• Strong communication and relationship management skills
• Entrepreneurial spirit to take ownership of internal projects such as process improvements and driving AI efficiency
• Attention to detail and desire to deliver high-quality work products that drive key decisions
• Confident interpersonal skills and comfort contributing to discussions at senior levels
