Job description

* Location: Bloomfield, CT, New York, San Francisco, CA. Willing to consider other locations/work at home for the right candidates.

SUMMARY: The Vice President of Clinical AI & Interoperability Engineering will establish dedicated executive leadership for Clinical AI and Interoperability across Cigna Group, unifying capabilities that today sit fragmented across multiple teams into a single, enterprise-accountable portfolio. This role brings together AI strategy, HealthcareOS, Sales & Growth AI, Clinical AI, and the Cigna Group Interoperability platform under one senior leader who will own the multi-year roadmap, capital allocation, and delivery outcomes for how U.S. Employer builds, scales, and monetizes AI and agentic capabilities.

Interoperability is elevated within this role as a strategic enterprise asset. Will own the engineering and productization of a longitudinal record spanning Health Plan, Pharmacy Benefit Management, and Specialty Pharmacy- a foundational capability that materially impacts clinical AI accuracy, provider experience, member engagement, and marketplace differentiation. Will serve as the connective tissue between U.S. Employer Product, the AI Innovation Office, the AI Office of Enablement, Sales, Account Management, the Clinical organization, the Data, Digital & AI organization, and external clients, translating enterprise AI strategy into differentiated business outcomes and communicating progress at leadership, market, and client forums.

Leads a distributed organization of hundreds of employees spanning the U.S. and GCC (India), and reports to the SVP of U.S. Employer Technology as a successor-track leadership position within the USET portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own the U.S. Employer AI and Interoperability roadmap, including multi-year strategy, capital allocation, platform investment, and operating model decisions.

  • Serve as the primary executive voice for the organization's AI strategy and progress across leadership, market, and client forums.

  • Lead delivery of AI-first solutions, including HealthcareOS, Clinical AI, and Sales & Growth AI, and activate clinical agentic use cases in support of Health Plan operations.

  • Own the engineering and productization of Interoperability as a strategic enterprise asset, building a longitudinal record across Health Plan, Pharmacy Benefit Management, and Specialty Pharmacy to create marketplace differentiation.

  • Establish an AI-native operating model and AI-first software development lifecycle, including governance, evaluation, guardrails, and reusable agentic capabilities that enable agent-to-agent integration.

  • Lead continuous AI research and development, startup engagement, and the responsible deployment of new AI and agentic capabilities.

  • Design and lead a distributed organization spanning Interoperability, HealthcareOS, Sales AI, and Clinical AI, owning talent strategy, delivery accountability, and a successor-ready leadership bench.

  • Partner closely with Sales, Account Management, Product, the AI Innovation Office, the AI Office of Enablement, and other enterprise stakeholders to align AI investments with business outcomes.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree is preferred.

  • 2+ years of core engineering leadership with GenAI, Agentic Systems, Autonomous Agentic in scaled industries; Clinical AI experience strongly preferred.

  • 2+ years of engineering management of partnerships with Hyperscalers.

  • 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including experience leading AI, digital health, or interoperability initiatives within healthcare or another complex, highly regulated enterprise environment.

  • Proven experience building and scaling AI-first or agentic technology capabilities, including governance, evaluation, and responsible deployment practices.

  • Working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and platforms, with an understanding of Health Plan, Pharmacy Benefit Management, and Specialty Pharmacy data ecosystems.

  • Experience leading large, distributed technology organizations across multiple geographies, including onshore and offshore teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with senior enterprise stakeholders across Clinical, Data & AI, Product, and Sales organizations to translate strategy into measurable business outcomes.

  • Strong executive presence and strategic communication skills, with experience representing technology strategy to senior leadership, market, and client audiences.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 276,400 - 414,600 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
