Lead a High-Performing CAD Design Team

Are you an experienced CAD leader who enjoys mentoring designers, improving engineering processes, and helping teams succeed?

Our client, a global manufacturing leader, is seeking a CAD Design Supervisor to lead its Engineering CAD Department at its Lebanon, Tennessee manufacturing facility.

This is a highly visible leadership position responsible for supervising CAD Designers, managing engineering documentation, supporting new product development, and serving as the site's technical expert for CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.

What You'll Do

You'll lead the daily activities of the CAD Design Department while supporting engineering projects from concept through production.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop a team of CAD Designers and CAD Operators
  • Establish department priorities and assign engineering design resources
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, 3D models, and documentation
  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECR) and Product Change Process (PCP)
  • Maintain CAD drafting standards and best practices
  • Manage CAD Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
  • Serve as the site's CAD software administrator and technical resource
  • Support SolidWorks administration, upgrades, and user training
  • Coordinate engineering documentation with Project Engineers and Engineering Managers
  • Conduct drawing audits to ensure compliance with company standards
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity and design qualityAssist with hiring, coaching, performance evaluations, and employee development
  • Review weekly timecards and assist with departmental budgeting
  • Perform hands-on CAD design work when needed
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in CAD Design, Engineering, Drafting, or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of professional CAD Design experience
  • 2+ years leading or supervising CAD Designers or Drafters
  • Strong experience using SolidWorks
  • Experience managing engineering drawings and documentation
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to motivate and develop people
Preferred Experience
  • CAD Data Management (PDM)
  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
  • SAP PLM
  • Manufacturing environment
  • Configuration Management
  • SolidWorks administration
