Compensation for this position will be determined based on a combination of factors, including education, professional certifications, relevant experience, and other job-related considerations permitted by law.
Role Overview
The Stationary Engineer / Multi-Skilled Mechanic ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant equipment, utilities, and facilities within an industrial environment. This role combines licensed stationary engineering responsibilities with hands-on mechanical, electrical, and maintenance support across multiple systems. The position plays a critical role in maintaining operational continuity, regulatory compliance, and equipment reliability while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain boilers, compressors, cooling systems, and utility equipment in compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Perform multi-skilled maintenance activities including mechanical repair, pipefitting, welding, machining, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Support equipment reliability by inspecting, maintaining, and repairing pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and related systems.
  • Execute work orders, document maintenance activities, and support spare parts management and inventory planning.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures while contributing to continuous improvement and training initiatives.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Grade 1 Stationary Engineer license (Maryland) with ability to maintain certification.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of industrial maintenance experience, including multi-skilled mechanical work.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, procedures, and safety information.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, working in confined spaces, and operating equipment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in chemical, manufacturing, or industrial plant environments.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pipefitting, and welding disciplines.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranes, or loaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and support reliability improvement efforts.
