Job description

Veterinary Assistant 

Bogey Hills Animal Hospital is hiring a Full-Time Veterinary Assistant for our busy 3 doctor practice. We are looking for a friendly, outgoing professional who excels in a fast-paced environment, communicates clearly, is passionate about animal care, and is a true team player.

Schedule: Mon-Fri. 4 day work week, rotating Saturdays 830a-2p

Key Responsibilities:

        Support veterinarians with patient care, exams, surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, and recovery.

        Safely handle and restrain animals with compassion. Fear Free desired.

        Communicate clearly with clients, including care instructions and status updates

        Perform technical duties such as lab work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.

        Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.

    • Help keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
    • Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment
    • Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospital
    • Answer phones, schedule appointments, follow up communications with clients
    • Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines at all times.

Qualifications:

        At least 2 years of veterinary experience is required.

        Knowledgeable about common disease states and able to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.

        Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.

        Empathy: Ability to hold sensitive, emotional conversations with care.

        Communication skills: Clear, professional, and compassionate interpersonal style.

        Organization: Strong multitasking ability in a fast-paced environment.

        Tech-savvy: Comfortable with digital tools, scheduling systems, and adapting to new platforms.
