Job Description

The Clinical Technician II is responsible for maintaining high standards of animal care and facility sanitation in compliance with safety and care protocols.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains accurate medical and observations of animals in database record.
  • Coordinates with Clinical Tech Supervisor to ensure proper animal care and sanitation standards.
  • Ensure proper pictures of animals are taken and updated in database.
  • Assists other team members when needed.
  • Conducts regular walk-throughs of the facility to observe, evaluate and report any abnormal conditions or behaviors of the animals.
  • Greets and assists the public in reclamation of pets and potential adoptions.
  • Intake animals from the public and assist intaking animals from officers.
  • Performs behavioral and health evaluations of all animals in the facility.
  • Cleans and sanitizes kennels, provides fresh water and feeds animals as needed.
  • Administers medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed.
  • Maintains accurate medical records and documentation of all healthcare provided to animals.
  • Assist team members when needed to ensure efficiency and productivity with all programs such as Adoption, Rescue and our TNR program.
  • Works after hours and weekends as assigned, including during on-call rotations and scheduled events.
  • Monitor supply inventories and alerts supervisor of low stocks.
  • Transports animals to and from rescue agencies, veterinarian offices, and clinics.
  • Performs and assists with humane euthanasia, following proper procedures and adherence to protocols.
  • Supervises inmates in their daily activities, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Evaluates and recommends animals for potential adoption.
  • Interacts professionally with the public, co-workers, inmates, rescue groups, veterinarians, and adoption partners.
  • Operate equipment to spray for mosquitos when needed.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Take and uploads photos and videos of adoptable animals to websites and social media platforms.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, data entry and the ability to quickly learn and utilize new software systems.
  • Attend training sessions, classes and conferences as required to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.
  • Performs all other related duties as required.

Qualifications: Education and Work Experience

  • Requires a high school diploma, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Professional experience working with animals preferred.
  • Requires S.C. Driver’s license.
  • Must obtain Humane Euthanasia certification within one year of hire.
  • Must obtain a category 8 Pesticide Applicator within one year of hire.
